The poll totally reminded me of the last wedding I was in... I was the MOH. Apparently, during the planning, the DJ suggested that instead of smushing it in each other's faces, they should try this, where the MOH would stand behind the groom, and the Best Man would stand behind the bride. When the time came, they would each reach past the other, and smush cake in their attendants faces.
But when it came time to do this at the wedding, the DJ asked me to stand behind the bride, and for the Best Man to stand behind the groom. So the bride and groom got all confused about who they should smush.. do they still reach past their new spouse, or do they still smush their own attendant?
I bet you can see where this is going... the bride reached over her shoulder, while the groom stuck with the reaching past his bride... and they BOTH covered me in frosting.
It was quite entertaining, and let's be honest... I was a lot less upset about getting frosting all over my MOH dress than she would have been with her wedding dress
Has anyone else ever seen that happen? It was really a fun surprise!

Re: S/O Poll- Cake Cutting
Not going to lie, I'd be pissed if someone did this to me. Just because you werent the bride, doesn't mean you didn't spend time/money on getting your makeup done and you spend $ on the dress that may or may not have been ruined by the sugary/greesy frosting.
The whole cake smushing thing is totally not my style, as a bride or as a guest at a wedding so I wouldn't have been ok with this. It's a good thing you weren't mad about it, and that it worked out for you guys though.

I definitely had a moment of shock.. and I wouldn't ever recommend someone do this (unless they had discussed it with their attendants, and made sure it was okay..) but in the end... I wasn't ever gonig to wear the dress again, and it was definitely funny.. so I couldn't hold it against them.
At the time, I thought it was strange that they both came after me.. but now I get the confusion.
Also: this was a number of years ago, and I no longer speak to them.. I can't say that this event caused the break, but it probably helped me to start seeing what kind of a person she really was... if that makes sense.

Pretty much what I was thinking. Maybe I'm a debbie downer, but I paid a lot of money for my makeup, hair, & dress to have cake smushed all over it. And just not my style at all, either.
I have seen this before..and I think its cute as long as it doesnt go overboard.
Me and my bridesmaids jumped in the pool with our dresses and really could care less its about having fun not being perfect.
When my MOH & H's Best Man were being difficult before the wedding H & I joked about doing this to them. We didn't. We didn't even smash cake in each other's faces. Having cake smashed in my face and getting up my nose and in my hair just doesn't sound like fun to me. However if you know your friend won't care I don't see a problem with it. I imagine it would be pretty funny to see!
