5 year old DD complains of itchy head- shampoo suggestions?
Recently my DD is indicating her head is itchy, usually after her shower when her hair dries. I have been using Suave kids. Suggestions of a better shampoo and conditioner? J&J? Aveeno? She also has long wavy hair that knots easily. If anyone has a detangler/leave in conditioner suggestion, that would be helpful. Thanks ladies.

Try J&J no tears shampoo. I believe that's gentle.
Do they still have No More Tangles for kids?
Does she have lice?
It's a pretty common symptom for a five with an itchy scalp. I noticed both my local beauty supply and Ulta have restocked their lice supplies which makes me wonder if there's a local (I'm in Bucks) outbreak.
If not, Head & Shoulders has an itchy scalp shampoo. I like this stuff for detangling-

It's pricey but you need very little.
Check and treat for lice first. If you treat make sure to bag up the study animals and clean the sheets and pillows.
I found adding baking soda to the shampoo helps my dry scalp itch less.
I would try a shampoo with tea tree oil in it, it is an excellent help to dry scalp if that is the cause. I would also recommend trying sulfate free shampoos, as the chemicals in the regular shampoo could be irritating her scalp. And you didn't mention, but if you do use a blowdryer, maybe stop and let her hair dry naturally.
Also, is it possible she is overly washing her hair? She might be stripping away natural oils on her scalp which help keep it from drying out.
If she's just using kid shampoo, maybe it's time to switch to a grown-up shampoo that's moisturizing and also use conditioner. My son uses Suave kids, but my DD uses AussieMoist shampoo and cond.
J&J makes a kids detangling spray, but I have this stuff that my DD and I use that's from the salon, it's expensive, but fantastic as a detangler/moisturizer. It's called Perfect 10 or something like that. A tiny bottle lasts a while.
Ditto checking for lice -- ugh. I've survived an infestation. If you find out it's lice, come over onto the Bump School Aged Kids board and post before you use RID or one of those products, which are really, really harsh on the child's scalp. I'll tell you my tricks.
