Forgot to tell you all....story from the night before the wedding

We had a lovely rehearsal & dinner the night before the wedding, and decided that we'd all go out to the local bar for a drink or two since so many of our friends/family were in town. H and I spend a lot of time in Maine where we got married, and we wanted to show everyone else, who had never been, how much fun it is.....

Everyone was having a great time, the bar had a live band playing, and it was a great way to start off our wedding weekend...well next thing I knew, I was being woken up in bed by my MOH. She said to me "let me see your legs!!!" and I had no idea why...then she ripped the covers off of me, and showed me a massive cut on my knee and a swollen ankle....I said to her "what happened?!?!?" and she said "you don't remember??" umm...nope!

Apparently I:

got super drunk (fun drunk though i.e. dancing, laughing etc.)

started running back to the hotel when we were leaving and fell in a ditch, twisted my ankle and cut my knee open (MOH said that if it wasn't the night before my wedding, I would have been taken to the ER for stitches)

my BMs took care of me, washed out my cut, bandaged me up etc.

I apparently called my brother to say that my H was missing (he wasn't) and luckily my MOH took my phone and told my bro that everything was ok...

So much for getting my beauty rest the night before the wedding...After throwing back a few advil, a coffee, and a bagel I felt great and ready for the day, but man was I a mess when I first woke up......

If nothing else, I'll chalk this up to a lesson learned, and I'll be constantly reminded of this night by the beautiful scar that I have on my knee.

Re: Forgot to tell you all....story from the night before the wedding

  • I should also mention that I rarely ever drink....and it's even more rare that I go out to any bars. So when I do go out, I order drinks that I hear other people drink since I don't know names of drinks. I had remembered that my brother had ordered a drink at this specific bar called a Grateful Dead, and he said it was really good, so thats what I was drinking....later I found out that those are pretty much the worst things to drink since they have pretty much everything you can imagine (for alcohol) in it. Whoops, I better learn some less dangerous drink names.

  • Eek! That is crazy story.....Grateful Dead drinks are tasty but dangerous (as you know now). I'm glad it all worked out for you!

  • Wow, what a trooper...I would have had a horrible wedding if I had gotten drunk the night before!  Apparently I am getting old, my days of drinking to excess, being hungover, and being ready to go out and drink again the next night are DEFINITELY over, haha.

Honestly I have no idea how i was able to function.....the adrenaline from excitement must have helped me somehow. That and the coffee/bagel/water/advil combo.

Part of me is wishing I was smarter about going to bed early and getting my rest, but the other part of me had an amazing night, and a story to talk about with my friends forever.

  • This story made me LOL. I am so impressed that you managed to function and enjoy your day!! I'm a miserable baby when I'm hungover.
