personal TMI question..

Yesterday I went in for my first pap smear exam and the doc also gave me an internal ultrasound. Today I am having really cramps. Like worse than period cramps. Is this something to be concerned about or is this normal?? Sorry I know TMI but I've been googling to try to find answers and cant really find any answers that satisfy me. Thanks in advance girls!

Re: personal TMI question..

  • I've never had one, but I have heard of internal ultrasounds causing cramps and bleeding. I would say if the cramps haven't stopped by tomorrow to give your doctor a call. Hope you feel better!

  • After my pap smears the doctor always says that I may experience cramping afterwards so I would imagine that after an internal ultrasound (I've never had one) that the cramping may be worse. At the very least, you could just call your doctor and tell them that you are experiencing severe cramping since your visit. You'll probably speak to a nurse but they might be able to calm your nerves about it.

  • I have never had an internal ultrasound either, but when I do go for a pap, I get cramps for a day or two. They should go away. If they don't go away in the next few days, I would call your doc. I would take some advil for the pain and that should help.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  • Ok thanks girls. Just from what you told me I feel better. I'll just wait out the pain for a couple days ;)

  • I have had an internal ultrasound and trust me cramps are very normal. So it's spotting. It's almost like having sex for the first time so any "side effects" you would have from that expect to have from the internal ultrasound. It should go away after a day or 2.
