Fashion help: accessorize my dress

I need help accessorizing for a wedding. I posted about picking a dress before and decided on this one.

Weddings are Sept 1st and Oct 6th. So not much time before the first one.  I feel style challenged and need help!

1) I need something to keep me warm! I'm always cold. I tried searching some stores for cardigans that would look right with the dress and didn't find much.  Tried some stuff I already own, and regular cardigans don't look right. I have a cropped cardigan that looks okay fit wise (dark purple).  The best looking thing (fitwise) I already own was a shrug. It's a lighter purple. Would that look ok? (This is pretty much the color. Obviously this is not the shrug, pic just for color)

Otherwise if that doesn't work, I need to buy something...any suggestions?  And what colors would you suggest...feel limited with what is out in stores. WHBM had a black shrug/cropped cardi but black seems so boring on black!

2) Any jewelry ideas?  I feel like I need a pretty necklace with the deep V

3) shoe ideas?  Tried on black peep toe pumps with it and looked great, but they were WAY too high for me. I have foot issues and I am pretty much the photographer at wedding #2 so comfort is also important (no super high heels!).

And I really don't want to spend a small fortune.  Some of the cardigans at WHBM were $80.  I definitely don't want to spend that much!!  I realize a lot of things you get what you pay for, but feel like that is way more than I want to spend.

Re: Fashion help: accessorize my dress

  • 1. I would do a wrap, not a cardigan. You could do teal, red, champagne, purple, bright pink,. I would go more jewel toned than pastel. You can easily find a wrap at Target or Kohls for under $15.

    2. Jewelery. I would do a large earring and bracelet. I wouldn't wear a necklace because to the ruffled neckline. Try Forever 21, H&M, Target. I really like Francesca's. I like something like these

    3. Shoes: I wouldn't do black. I would go for a metallic or colored shoe. I think a nice gold strappy heel would look great.

  • Ha! It's like the exact opposite of everything I suggested. I am fashion challenged!

Do you have any pics of how to wear a wrap? I feel like its something that I'm going to have to adjust all night. I will be photographing wedding #2 all day and evening so I need something I won't have to worry about adjusting much.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

  • Kris's earrings w/ gold sandals would be really cute!

Wraps annoy me too (even though they're pretty), so I'd probably do a cardigan or a blazer. I think you just have to watch the length b/c it it's too long it'll take away from the fitted waist of the dress, which is what makes it look pretty.

  • I think if you want to do a cardigan the cut and material is going to be important because of the neckline and the ruffles plus the waist.
