How to become a wedding planner?
I recently got married and loved the whole planning process. If I could, i would plan another wedding again. so I was wondering: does anyone know how to become a wedding planner or coordinator? Any schools or courses you need to take? Thanks ladies!
Re: How to become a wedding planner?
I felt the same way as you after planning my wedding--I was all in but had no idea how to get started.
I reached out to a wedding planner (I honestly forget who it was now) and had an informational meeting with her to better understand the field and how to prepare, which was really helpful and Id highly recommend as your first step. She asked me to come along to an upcoming wedding she was working as an assistant to see how it all goes down and if I wanted to pursue it further.
Let me tell you, it was a terrible experience....which is why I recommend it, because I would have hated to go through classes or quit my job to actually work as an assistant only to THEN realize that I hated it.
The bride was a privileged, arrogant, biatch on wheels and made me realize that I liked the idea of planning weddings for people like me and my friends who were relatively relaxed and easy going....not the general population who is full of bridezillas who freak out because their wine glass sweat a couple water droplets on their dress and it would take the whole ride to the church to dry.
That being said, you may love it and have a personality that better suits the field--one where you need to feel like its a national emergency that someone's pin curls are falling out.
Thanks for your post!
My husband told me the same thing... we both are laid back, our vendors loved us coz we didnt stress any of them... but not everyone is like us... even though I love planning and being creative - I should really think if it's something for me like you said. Thanks again!
I agree with this! OP I guarantee you are still on a high. Once you level out, bet your bottom dollar you will not want to give up your weekends to deal with bridezillas. Although you may. There are obviously those that love it. Best of luck.
