Hyde Park Steakhouse?

DH just called and said that his work is taking us out to dinner the night before a Steelers game in October. We're going to Hyde Park on the North Shore - has anyone been? What would be appropriate attire (both for me and the hubs, as I'll have to tell him what to wear:P)? Any other tips are much appreciated:)

Re: Hyde Park Steakhouse?

  • I wouldn't wear jeans.

Dress pants and a buttondown for DH.

You could wear dresspants and a cute top, or skirt or dress.

  • agree with Kris but you will see both ends of the spectrum as anywhere in the Burgh'.  Don't be surprised to see jeans & baseball hat, shorts or someone in suit & tie.  I have gone & worn skirt b/c it was after work & was fine but would feel the same if I wore shorts or capris.

  • Are you guys doing Hyde Park and then the Steeler game? If that's the case it's ok to wear your Steelers gear. If not, dress clothes are a better choice.

We went once for work before a Pirate game and they said you can come in Pirate gear, no big deal.

  • I was there once with my boss for a quick bite between the U.S.Foods foods show and the pirate game they gave us tickets too. His pick.

It is Fancy and very "old school" dark with red velvet and heavy curtains. ( I just recently told DH I would love to dress up and go there for a date.)  That day however we were in very casual clother. I was in Jeans and a decent henley type red shirt he was in cargo shorts with bleach spots he ALWAYS wears and a Tshirt.

They didnt seem to flinch.  BUT the place was kinda empty and it was like 3 in the afternoon.

I am sure on Game days casual/game day attire will be everywhere.

ETA: all I had was the Chop Salad and it was really good! The dressing was very good. I also hear they have a "really good wine list"

Nope, fancy date night Saturday night for the dinner (they actually are getting hotel rooms for everyone, we're just opting to go home to be with the kiddo) and then the Steelers game is Sunday afternoon. Dress clothes sound like the way to go. Now I have to go shopping for a new top:)
