It's Friday!!!
The past 2 days my body has been like "OMG it's 5:30 AM Get the F up." For no good reason. I really would like to enjoy the weekend.
Re: TGIF Randoms
Good morning! Yay for Friday!
We are having the carpets cleaned in the lower level/basement today. I am allergic to something in either the bedroom or office down there so I hope the carpet cleaning helps. If not, we will have to replace the carpet in those two rooms sooner than we had planned to. One eye itches and swells (never the same eye), I sneeze and my nose runs, and my throat gets itchy if I spend time in either room. Not really fun to be allergic to your own house!
Good morning! TGIF is right! I hope today goes by faster than yesterday...at work anyways.
I chopped my hair off after my wedding too. It felt so good. I kept it shorter for almost 4 years, and now I'm growing it out again for a change. I'm sure in a year, I'll be sick of it and cut it again. Haha.
I'm sorry :-( DH and I both have IBS, which I think just means they have no idea what it is. I've found a cold decoction of marshmallow root to work well to soothe inflammation but DH won't try it.
Have you tried going gluten free? For a lot of people IBS actually is a food sensitivity the doctors haven't figured out. If you go on a GAPS diet to heal your gut, you can often start to feel much much better.
Charity: My Mom has IBS also.
Wendy: How do you do Mashmallow root? I'm wondering if I could sneak it past my Mom.
Here's an article about the marshmallow root tea: http://www.learningherbs.com/news_issue_55.html
You have to get past the sliminess. But you could probably add it to regular tea and she might not notice. I love it in the winter time because it also helps with dry lungs that can happen from being in the dry indoors.
A friend of mine swears by this stuff for her IBS: http://www.amazon.com/Heathers-Tummy-Organic-Irritable-Syndrome/dp/B0009XFYSG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1345379108&sr=8-3&keywords=acacia+powder
Although she continues to eat a lot of refined wheat & dairy, which are both inflammatory foods, so that constantly is going to keep the gut in response mode. Keep in mind too, that for some with IBS (which is still a catch all term for the doctors saying "I don't know what it is", and not a real diagnosis to me), the veggies make it worse, especially if you don't cook them enough. More than following any particular diet, IBS or otherwise, make sure you keep a journal & pay attention to your body carefully. It will tell you what works for you. That's why I cut gluten & limit dairy. Within days I felt way better. I did it before this whole craze hit of doing it for weight loss & such. For many people with gut issues, gluten just creates a perpetual state of inflammation & misery.
