I'm trying to document DS's family tree as much as possible. I have the info for my side of the family, but we have limited info from DH's side past his siblings and parents. I now have everything we "know" in ancestry.com. I'm at the point where I want help from his family.
However, it seems like to do anything on there, you need one of the stupid paid subscriptions. And they are a website that sends more spam-like emails than I care to subject other people to when they are helping me out!
Someone on here (one of the Pams from yesteryear I think) suggested geni.com. Unfortunately, they won't let you import data from Ancestry, so I'd have to retype a lot of stuff. And I'm not talking just about names - I've got birth, marriage, and death dates if we know them. I really really really don't feel like redoing 135 people by hand.
Does anyone else have a family tree software or website they like? Preferably one that allows import of gedcom files?
Re: Family trees
Oops, at least I got the first 2 letters right!
MyHeritage, so far, looks great! I think I'm going to use a fake email address and pretend to be a relative to test out what each website can do as far as sharing/editing.
