I'm going to ask for an embroidery machine for Christmas but wanted to start looking into them and looking for good deals. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on machines and what I should look for. I'd like something I can hook up to my computer or a flash drive so that I don't have to buy a million cartridges (if that's how it works). Any suggestions are appreciated!
Our little hippo was as impatient as mom!
Hoping for a full 40 weeks!!
Re: Embroidery Machine...
Try looking here. http://www.kenssewingcenter.com/brother-embroidery-machines-c-51_52.html
I would not recommend the singers. I know several seamstresses with singer embroidery machines and a few digitizesrs. They do not recommend them. Most people like brother embroidery machines.
Also don't forget you will need embroidery thread and stabilizer.
Here is a great link to a stabilizer workbook. http://www.rnkdistributing.com/pdf-files/FlorianiWorkbookStabilizer.pdf
Ask guys!
Sp good tip!
I have a brother PE-770 that I really enjoy. It is pretty easy to use. I've seen it on Amazon for around $500 at times. It works with a 5x7" hoop. There have been a few projects (towels, large bags) that I wish I had a bigger hoop, but it works well for just about everything. I actually got mine off Craigslist for $400 and got a TON of extras.
The best part is that my LQS is a Brother dealer, so even though I didn't buy it there, I can still get my machine serviced there!
I downloaded free digitizing software, but I'm having a hard time figuring it out. I think it's called Embroidery ABC. I'm pretty tech savvy, but it's been frustrating. I can do lettering just fine, but actually digitizing pictures and applique is difficult for me. Maybe if I actually bought software it would be a bit more user friendly, but I'm not ready to pony up big money quite yet! If there's something I really want to work out, it's worth it to me to buy a pattern off Etsy or an embroidery site. Either way, I use the USB port quite a bit.
