Re: How was your weekend?

    • Highs? Crab feast on Saturday - got to see lots of family/friends we haven't seen in awhile. I finally got my shelf from Target on Sunday and DS was great for his hair cut!
    • Lows? I didn't get the pictures I wanted to get on Saturday and it's going to be so long before we see those people again. Also, see my FFC/vent below...
    • Watch anything good? More episodes of Breaking Bad.
    • Eat/make anything good? Crabs! We also had Rita's which is always good!
    • Read anything good? No.
    • FFCs, vents, AWs, comments, etc? My cousin's wife (who he was supposed to be divorcing but then they got back together, ugh!) and I have different parenting styles and I hate talking to her about parenting. And she's always got something negative to say about parenting. Not that it's all puppies and rainbows but always the first thing out of her mouth is something bad. And finally, she was telling me all about how a 3 year age gap between your kids is ideal and if you have them closer together "you WILL go insane". She only has 1 kid btw, so not sure why she's such an expert. Also, she is not the only person who has tried to sell me on waiting until Caelan is older to have another kid (without having any knowledge of when we would like to have another). It annoys me that people are telling me when we should and shouldn't have kids and these people either have no kids or have only 1 kid so I am really not sure how they are the expert on 2+ kids.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Baby shower this weekend! I get to make a cake too which I haven't done in forever! DH's birthday dinner on Sunday.

    • Highs? Had a great time at a friend's wedding and post-wedding brunch boat cruise. Got to hang out with friends I haven't seen in a long time and who doesn't love boat rides???
    • Lows? We got all the way to the doggie pool and Gracie was all ready to go in when they told us they had to shut down b/c they had no running water. Poor Gracie was crushed.
    • Watch anything good? I started watching Boss.
    • Eat/make anything good? Had great food at the wedding (create your own pasta, beef tenderloin, cream of crab soup, chocolate lava cake) and then delicious brunch food and bbq yesterday.
    • Read anything good? Still reading Peony in Love.
    • FFCs, vents, AWs, comments, etc? Work is really getting on my nerves lately. My boss is always asking me to schedule elaborate meetings for her and then I always have to cancel and reschedule everything for her at the last minute b/c she can't remember her personal commitments. I'm really sick of apologizing to everyone constantly. Half the time these people are already on the road to meet with her by the time she cancels on me.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Not that I'm looking forward to painting but I'm excited to start painting the family room.
    • Highs? DH and I were crafty yesterday and made lip balm. It was a lot of fun!

    • Lows? I've had a nagging sinus headache for about a week and I really need it to go away.

    • Watch anything good? The Hunger Games.  I thought it was good but DH wasn't thrilled.  He hasn't read the books so I had to explain a lot of things to him.

    • Eat/make anything good? Chipotle on Saturday and coconut curry last night.

    • Read anything good? No

    • FFCs, vents, AWs, comments, etc? Vent: I have to get up at 4:30am every day this week for work, which is three hours earlier than normal. I know some people do this all the time but I am not a morning person! FFFC: I shouldn't vent about this because it's three hours of overtime each day, which I am thankful to have.

    • What are you looking forward to this week? Kegs and Corks at Blob's Park on Sunday.

    • Highs? Friends baby shower on Saturday, crab feast on Saturday evening. Caroline sleeping better this weekend.
    • Lows? Screaming from the almost 3 year old this morning
    • Watch anything good? We dvr'ed the McCoy's and Hatfields back in May and are finally getting around to watching it. It will probably take us several weeks, we never have any time to watch tv just the two of us.
    • Eat/make anything good? I made the Shrimp and herb Mac and Cheese this weekend (we have a ton of leftovers), steamed crabs, Sweet Devotion cupcakes! Drool!
    • Read anything good? Just started 50 shades of Grey and I can't put it down.
    • FFCs, vents, AWs, comments, etc? Caroline has just found her voice lately, she will scream and then giggle, DH and I just smile constantly. A is definitely going through the terrible two's. She woke up this morning before anyone else, started screaming at 5 a.m., because she wanted milk. Every SINGLE MONDAY we get attitude and I'm sure it's because she didn't sleep well over the weekend. We normally have to put her back to bed before the day even begins, which she gives us lip for. She is totally pushing our buttons. I had no idea that parenting would be this hard.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Seeing a friend on Friday (we are heading to the National Zoo, weather permitting).

    • Highs? Completing 90% of the cleaning goals I'd set for the weekend. Date night with E.

    • Lows? How tired and sore cleaning makes me now, which caused some tears of frustration. And some issues at a family get together on Sunday.

    • Watch anything good? Watched the latest SYTYCD last night.

    • Eat/make anything good? Date night was at Paladar. We had the churrasco trio appetizer, then I had the spinach and bacon salad and the ropa vieja tacos. For dessert we had churros. Almost everything was absolutely incredible.

    • Read anything good? Nope

    • FFCs, vents, AWs, comments, etc? Vent: At a family get together on Sunday I had to contend with an over-tired and defiant little girl, a grandmother with dementia who was trying to interject on my parenting, and a mother who disagreed with my parenting and decided to make it known in front of my child.
    • FFC: E's going to the renaissance festival with his friend on Saturday. I never like going on opening weekend because it's almost always miserable, weather-wise, and now that I can't walk up a flight of stairs without feeling like I'm going to die, the festival just isn't the place for me right now. There's no reason for him not to go, but I'm still bummed that he's going without me. It's our thing. It's where we met, it's one of the few hobbies we share. I know he's disappointed that I'm not going and he'd love to have me there, so it's not that I'm not wanted, which is comforting. I'm just... feeling down and sorry for myself.

    • What are you looking forward to this week? It ending. I'm growing increasingly uncomfortable, and getting myself to and from work every day feels like a Herculean task. Time spent in the car=contractions, and I spend 2-3 hours a day in the car. Plus I'm tired. And clearly whiny. I wish I could hibernate.

Meghann, I'm going to be there Sunday, too! We should meet up.

    • Highs? Not doing much was actually a high! We got a lot of laundry done.
    • Lows? Not much. I didn't exercise, which I was supposed to.
    • Watch anything good? Caught up on Top Chef masters.
    • Eat/make anything good? I made S'mores cookie bars for a picnic.
    • Read anything good? "divergent" by Veronica Roth. Very good, particularly if you like Hunger Games.
    • FFCs, vents, AWs, comments, etc? I auditioned for a charity cabaret that's being put on by a group at AACC and the Children's theatre (which I'm a board member of). I have auditioned for anything in eight years (though I did musical theatre throughout all of high school and majored in theatre in college). It was nerve-wracking and I will be totally bummed if I don't get in (and that will probably be the end of my auditioning forever, even though I know it's the wrong attitude to have).
    • What are you looking forward to this week? My friend's wedding on Sunday. Doug Segree is playing at the reception, and I LOVE him!
  • Highs?  We had an awesome time at the agility trial this weekend.  It was just our second trial and I already saw improvements.

Lows?  I would have liked more sleep.

Watch anything good?  Hmm, the Giants game was about all that I watched.

Eat/make anything good?  DH had dinner ready when I came home on Saturday from the trial and that was awesome.

    Read anything good? nope

FFCs, vents, AWs, comments, etc?  I'm annoyed at work with not knowing a time frame.  I realize that they need to plan but I would also like to plan for when I need a new job.

What are you looking forward to this week?  Relaxing this weekend.

    My sweet boy

  • Highs?  Watching DD hang with her cousin at a family crab feast this weekend.

Lows?  Sunday was a bit of a let down - we were supposed to go to the lunch in Baltimore and walk aroudn the harbor, but decided since it was rainy and overcast to skip it, but it turned out to be a pretty decent day anyway.

Watch anything good?  We figured out Netflix streaming and started Breaking Bad and I started Downton Abbey

Eat/make anything good?  Crabs on Saturday, steak on Sunday

    Read anything good? nope
FFCs, vents, AWs, comments, etc?  My SIL's a PITA - which I forget when I don't see her, but then everytime w/ hangout w/ them I get a reminder.  I took off yesterday to get a relaxer on my hair and it took forever and I was actually stiff afterward - so I got a seat massage at the mall to help.  Holy crap - I had to tell the guy 3x to be more gentle and I was still wincing in pain.  I figured maybe I was really tight and it would be better to just let him work me over - I'm still super sore and now I wish I'd just walked away.

What are you looking forward to this week? this week is birthday party/play date-palooza, plus the Blob's park thing on Sunday.
