do you talk to your neighbors? are you just friendly or do you hang out and do things together?
Re: Poll: neighbors
We waive hello, say hello, a little more conversation with others but we don't really hang out. One a few doors down asked us to dinner a few times. We went once but none of the other times worked for our schedule.
TTC since Jan 07. Dx with PCOS Jan 08
Some of our neighbors are very friendly, others not at all. The nice ones we stop and talk to when we're outside and we help each other out. One neighbor has started organizing some little get togethers like Halloween, a progressive happy hour, picnics, and those have been very nice. We don't really seem the individually though, just as a passing by most times.
Some of our neighbors we don't talk to you at all though.
We have 3-4 couples that we know a little, wave to, have hung out over drinks during the summer a few times, and had dinner with one couple twice. That really is the extent of it though. There are a decent amount of young families with babies (so much that one summer day when I was out with Sadie we had to move over for the 9 --some with two babies each!-strollers that were parading down the road for their daily walk!) and a large amount of middle aged couples with kids in high school.
Legend has it that our part of the street used to be very social and would have block parties with 50-100 people coming. I guess this was back in the late 90's. In fact, our basement used to have a built in bar (they took it with them) and this was the hub, so they say. Our deck has panels that slide out with steps that lead to the basement. They used to open this up and people would come down for their drinks. They had a TV hooked up in the stairs and a neon OPEN sign...that is still hanging there today! It's like a mini cellar that we never open except for storage.
We live on a lake and some of our neighbors have boats, that they said they used to take out during these parties. While I want to know my neighbors a little better, that sounds a bit crazy and am glad it has died down!
