Does anyone have anything cute that they did the night before their LO's first day of preschool? I'd like to do something with Parker to get him all excited and to look forward to the day, but I'm not sure what. Although he says he's going to school and he smiles, he really doesn't know what "school" is and what there is to be so excited about. I'd love to give him a little teaser somehow. I found a poem on pinterest that a teacher would mail out to their students, but not something from a parent to their kid. So, any ideas?
Oh...and this is sooooooo silly...but, do kids need a backpack for preschool? Parker will only be going 2 days per week for 2.5 hours each time, if that matters.
Re: The night before the 1st day of preschool
I don't have any night before preschool ideas. Since DD has been going to daycare forever I never really thought about it...but now you got me thinking I should try to make this special. :-)
As for the backpack--I would say yes. DD comes home with tons of papers and projects and it's helpful to corral all of them in a folder in her backpack. She also has show and tell weekly.
sorry no cute ideas. We usually just go out to eat as a family & get ice cream! My kids are daycare to preschool so until this year the first day was not a big deal.
I don't send mine with a backpack (until Keira wanted to take one yesterday), but for just preschool I think alot of kids do. You may want to send a folder at least to keep his papers in for the week. I just send a lunch box & bring papers home as needed.

Target sells a book called, "The Night before Preschool" (along with the night before Kindergarten, First Grade, etc.). It's like $3.99. They also sell cards commemorating the big day. I got Gavin the Kindergarten book and a card, and I plan to give it to him tonight. We've been doing something fun every afternoon this week, so I'm probably not going to do much else tonight. Since I most likely have to take #2 to daycare in the a.m. tomorrow, and then Gavin to school for 8:30, we might have time for breakfast out before, but we'll see.
And I'm sorry, we're daycare to Kindergarten as well, so I can't answer on the preschool front! But I think a little backpack is a cute idea. I have a small one that was Gavin's that I think I'll let Conall take to d/c tomorrow, since he's been crying these mornings going with big brother.
