~~~whiney Wednesday~~~
Re: ~~~whiney Wednesday~~~
  • I love the quilt we have on our bed, but I washed it (per the instructions on the tag) and it shrunk up ridiculously and now it's way too small for the bed. I finally found the same quilt at another store (because they stopped carrying it at BB&B where I originally got it) and I put it on my Amazon wish list. It seems a little silly to me to replace it with the exact same thing but I want it to fit the bed damnit!!
    Our washing machine is pretty much broken. I discovered this when I washed a load on Monday night. We ordered a new washer and dryer last night but it won't be delivered until Tuesday next week. On the one hand I'm (stupidly) excited for a new W/D but on the other hand, I have no washing machine in the mean time.
    Today is DH's birthday and I got him a gift that I think he will like. But I couldn't come up with anything for DS to get him. I finally ordered something today but I feel bad that I don't have it to give to him today. I know DH is not going to care if "DS" gets him a gift, but I just suck at gift giving and I never feel like I do enough of a good job.
    This is an AW, not a whine, but I asked DS to say "Happy Birthday" this morning and he said "ha-pa bi-day" which is way closer than I thought he'd get! I tried to get him to repeat it but he just reverted back to his catch-all phrase "ba-ba". Oh well.
  • It drives me crazy how early DH goes to bed. I'll get back from exercise class, take a shower and then a few minutes later he's ready to turn the lights out and sleep. I always have to take my book in to the guest room or watch tv out in the living room (where my good shows are not DVR'd). Plus I get up earlier than him most days.
  • I'm starting to get this nagging feeling about considering a career change. I just kind of feel like I don't have much future here and that they are starting to think of me as dead weight. I feel like if I should do it, it should be now (mid 30s) before I get any older. But we have paid off a lot of stuff and I don't want to go into debt over going back to school either. Then I worry that I will go through with it and end up not being any happier in a new field. So I will probably end up doing nothing.
  • Last night, my husband snored and my dogs kept barking, and I ended up sleeping on the couch. Now today, I am cranky and tired, and I just don't feel like working.
  • I've had an infection during most of my PG that is very antibiotic resistant.  I've taken 3 rounds of prescribed meds and they didn't work, so they finally tested the strain against specific antibiotics.  On Monday I had to go in and have two intramuscular injections in my azz, they were very large needles.  In my mind, it wasn't going to be anythign worse than a flu shot or other typical quick shot.  It was worse, so much worse.  It hurt so bad and I had really bad contractions (which of course caused me to worry more) for about an hour in response to the pain.  It hurts to sit and lean back since then and I'm tired.  I'm also annoyed because my OB gave me two rounds of the exact same meds, and never explained to me why having this was a big deal.  It wasn't until I switched to my MW that it was explained that having an infection could cause my water to break and pre-term labor, my MW also went directly to testing the strain against actual antibiotics, as opposed to just prescribing me increasingly stronger ones, like my OB was doing.  I'm so glad I switched, I think my OB's office got too big and I don't think they are giving very focused and individualized care anymore.
  • I have a few:
    DD has been having nighttime waking issues which are getting very old and very annoying.  I deal w/ like 99% of them (and do all the bedtime routine and have since DD was a newborn); I don't love the arrangement, but I'm OK with it.  So after about 2 hours of crying and trying to sleep in DD's room with her, I couldn't take it anymore and took her into our bed.  No one got great sleep, but it was certainly better than no sleep or waking up to screaming every 30 minutes.  This morning, DH wasn't mad about the no sleep, but he was totally whiney about it.  Uhhhh - duude -- suck it up.
    I'm annoyed that people at work make a big deal about birthdays.  Seriously - do you really enjoy a cake and half-hearted round of "Happy Birthday" but then if I don't do that for my employees I look like a jerk.
    I'm annoyed my parents waffled aroudn about their own anniversary and when the finally did decide they were going on a cruise by themselves, they didn't tell me until about a week ago.  My mom manages to talk to me about every other conceivable minor issue - what color DD likes to paint her toes and send me random recipes, but she never mentions in over a month that they are going on this huge vacation.   .. . weird.
    1. I hate birthdays at work and I always take off on mine. I wish everyone else would just take off on theirs.
    2. That sucks. I remember you talking about doing an Alaskan cruise or something big, right?
  • I  have so much to do  and no motivation to do it , Cleaning out my moms condo is sucky  but has to be done . I have no idea how to sell crap . I want to hold on  to  stuff as memories but I cannot keep it all .
    The hubby is back at work . I am off work now but eventually have to go back ... not sure when but hoping to procrastinate on this
    I booked the weekend of labor day at the beach as i really want to get away but i am super fearful of how horrible traffic will be and my DD does not travel well
    Trying to combine all the cars we have ( 2 my mom left us) and my older one and get 1 nicer car is making me irritable as I cannot make a decision to save my life and test driving takes a lot of time - the hubby  is like Switzerland too - no help
    oh yeah my fat arse needs  to be going back to the gym and loosing some weight ....   total emotional eater here
     **** pitty party over
    @ sarah - what W/D  did you get ? new appliances are FUN!
    Remy - do what you need to - can you talk with your managers about job security ? would they pay for you to advance your education ?
  • I haven't really shared this with anyone other than family, but I may be losing my job. About 9 months ago work send out request for proposal to 45 companies hoping to find a company that can do property management for cheaper then they pay us. We have been in limbo for 9 months, two people in my office have retired, and my boss is not saying much of anything. I have started to put my resume online, hoping to find something in the Baltimore area. I've worked here for 6 years and I like to hope I could a find a job internally, but that's not looking so hot. I'm so stressed because I carry the family health insurance,etc. I'm worried and stressed. I just wish somebody would decide already!
  • Stef - I'm so sorry about your mom! Hugs!
    Jen - Hopefully everything will work out your job. Good luck!
  • Jen - Assume the worst; if they don't find a new company from teh initial RFP, they will eventually, or they'll be acquired.  Handwriting is on the wall. Sorry, but you are smart to start looking.
    Stef - I'm sorry.  I know its got to suck on so many levels. .. .
    Can I add another complaint too - I got a major haircut on Monday - like several inches chopped off, got a relaxer, etc. - NO ONE on my immediate team has said one word!  Dads at daycare drop off commented on it and other colleagues have said something.
    A few of my coworker are thinking we may get picked up by said company. I highly doubt that!
  • Thanks gracie !
    and yes Jen - Good LUCK - that sucks - so stressful but just do what you can , sucks when you have no control .
  • Cooper, I'm sorry you've been going through this infection issue! I hope they can get it under control. You poor thing :(
    Stef, I'm so sorry about your Mom and the toll it's all taken. *hugs*
    Jen, good luck finding something new and better!
    My whines are all discomfort related and I know people get sick of hearing pregnant women complain. Those on my FB have seen enough of it.
    I do have a vent, though, that I'll throw out, 'cause it's seriously ticking me off. My husband's sister, with whom we've had a slew of issues in the past, Facebook messaged him to ask for money. To just touch on all the things wrong with this: she moved out of state two years ago and we found out via Facebook when her location changed, in those two years she has not ONCE picked up the phone to inquire after him or his family (through two car accidents, job loss, birthdays, and more), and we've given her money before only to never see it again. Let's not even get into the fact that, uh, we don't have the money to hand over, because really, even if we HAD it, over my dead body would it go into her grubby little hands.
    E's handled it all really well, telling her without sugar-coating (but without being an a-hole) that he's not her personal ATM and she needs to fix her own shiz, not come crying to him. She was so manipulative and laid on the guilt so thick in her messages that I seriously wanted to reach through and throttle her. I called her a LOT of not-nice names that night while venting to one of my best friends on the phone.
    There's so much back story and drama here that some may recall bits and pieces of from my vents over the years, but suffice it to say, she's batshitcrazy if she thinks that we're giving her a single red cent.
  • I'm annoyed with my condo-sale BS.
    I'm annoyed that H falls asleep during EVERY tv show we watch and so we have to turn it off until the next time and basically watch shows in 15 minute increments.
    I'm annoyed that I have zero direction at work and that waiting weeks to hear from my boss was bad enough, but now waiting weeks to hear from his assistant is even worse.
