What was the best wedding present you received?
One of my best friends is getting married in less than two months, and I CANNOT figure out what to get her. I'll of course get her something off of her registry, but I want to give her something special, too. What was a special gift that you received for your wedding? Any suggestions?

Re: What was the best wedding present you received?
all my guest gave money
Our roommate from Barca gave us this awesome painting of the street we lived on when we were living there....art is a personal thing though, so might not be a good idea to give this kind of thing....
One question - do your friends drink/like wine? There is this amazing metalsmith that does beautiful wine racks - very unique - very pretty....he makes them in 3 different types of metals, so different price points depending on what you get. I'm getting one for my house and we are also giving this as a gift to our friend who gave us the painting for his wedding in October.
the artist's name is Jack Brubaker.....he also does these really super cool wall candle holders made from metal - the designs for the candle inserts have colored metal cala lillies that you pick the color (they make ones for table display too)...so if your friend is not a wine person, maybe this option would be good for you.....

I saw this guy's work in a jewelry shop by my parents....really very nice....
Other than that, money is also nice and surely your friends would appreciate the $ to use for whatever they need for their new life together too
For my wedding, my mom as part of her gift gave me a pretty photo album with old-fashioned recipe cards. On them she had handwritten every special recipe that I loved from home. This has been such a useful gift over the last two years!
When my best friend got married, I did the same for her. I actually hand crafted all the cards, but you can find them lots of places. I included my favorite recipes, got some from her mom, and incorporated recipes from each of her bridesmaids and some friends as well.
I love sushi, and one of my guests gave me a beautiful set of sushi plates/teacups/chop sticks in a crackled jade green and black color. They were so pretty and we use them to this day.
Also another artist friend gave us a check, but inside of a hand painted card (the painting was a portrait of us based on one of our engagement photos). It was a simple black and white watercolor and it was so wonderfully done! we still have it sitting on our bookshelf.
Dirt Devil floor vac. Love it! And as for a special gift, I loved the framed photo we received of us both in kindergarten.
My DH loves our toaster oven...
I love all the photo albums and picture frames!
I also loved the throw pillows we registered for. I didn't like the dishes we got and no gift receipts, so we're stuck.
honestly all we wanted really was money from the wedding.
The sentimental gifts we got were really from the showers.
My sister in law gave us a beautiful wedding album to put pictures in with the title of our first song on it
Our shredder. I love to shred and am a bit of a privacy junkie.
Special gift - One of our guests was an elderly lady who saved up about a year's worth of Bed Bath & Beyond coupons. We didn't expect a gift and this was just very thoughtful.
This!
We wanted money, and that's mostly what we got. We also got a set of knives and a napkin holder off of our registry. Every time I pull out a knife or a napkin, I think of the girl who got it for us and smile. We got a few beautiful greeting cards with no gift, and I think of those often and smile. Some people came with nothing, and it still makes me so happy that they even came! No matter what you get, it will be special to your friend (assuming she's not a soul less, gift grabby b*tch).
Martha Stewart Collection Non-Skid Mixing Bowls with Measurements, Set of 3. We use them for everything!
The best gift we received was a wine rack. It came with two bottles of wine and one bottle of champagne. On each bottle there was a little note. The bottle of champagne read "for your first night together". A bottle of wine read "for the first night in your 1st home". The second bottle of wine read "for the announcement of your first child".
It is priceless to us and I cannot wait to use this idea for the weddings we have coming up!
Best gifts we got:
1. Heart shaped silicone cookie baking tray and gift certificates to the local cooking school! An experience we probably wouldn't have done otherwise.
2. The absolute best: My brother gave us a song. He's a composer and made a special musical track for us as our wedding gift. We had our videographers use it in our wedding video. It totally captured us and the feel of our wedding day. And it was just so darn special it makes me emotional just to think of it.
