From Kitten to Puppies

Our half-bath has now officially become an in home veterinary care room. A few weeks ago, I had Amelia in there for a weekend and now I have 7 golden retriever puppies in there that are only 10 days old! These are some of the puppies that we C-sectioned 10 days ago. It turns out that mom has developed a horrible case of mastitis from having 14 puppies nursing on her for so long. The other tech and I divided up the litter so that we could bring them home and tube feed them every 2.5 hours since mom can no longer nurse. I got these puppies home at midnight, fed them twice already and now it's 6am and I am beat. It makes it all worth it though when you have a puppy that weighs just more than a pound snuggle up against your neck. I can't wait to see all of these little guys grow up and become little puppy monsters :) Today is our long day at the clinic (11.5 hours) so lets see how I do with roughly 4 hours of sleep, I'm thinking large quantities of coffee are needed as soon as possible!!!
