    How Many?
    2!

    Name/s?
Willow is just over a year old and Primrose (Prim) is almost 4 months (she was born on our wedding day!)

    Breed/color?
Willow is grey & white :)
Primrose is a red tabby... she is our little ginger baby.

    Were they a rescue?
We got Willow from a girl I used to work with. I had a dream that I got a little grey kitten named Willow and the next day she was showing me pictures from a future relative's stray cat's litter... there was my little grey Willow :)
Prim came from an old friend of my brother who now lives in GA. He rescued 2 cats and found out both were pregnant. So he drove her up here for me :) H wanted an orange kitty and it turned out she was red :)

     Funny story?
Both kitties have a tendency to fail jump and face plant into EVERYTHING! It is too hard not to laugh... Oops!

    How Many? 2

    Name/s?

Flynn the cat and Apollo the dog ...We did not name apollo, i do not like that name for him but he alread knew it by the time we got him.

    Breed/color?

DSH/Orange stripped and A white fluffy small mutt dog

    Were they a rescue?

yes, Flynn came from the SPCA on New Years Day. Apollo orginally came for the SPCA , my cousin adopted him but was moving to a no dog home, so we got him. Best decision ever!

     Funny story?

FLynn gets everywhere dishwasher, small holes under the bed, drawers of cabinets, we have no idea how he gets in some of the spots.

Apollo is an older more cuddle bug dog.

    How Many?

H has had Marley (mutt pup) since he was 8 weeks, but we consider him to be mine, too.

I also 'have' another dog, who now lives with my brother, and his wife, and her two dogs.

    Name/s?

    Marley (8) and Davis (11)

    Breed/color?

Marley is a mutt, we really don't even know what he could be.  The vet calls him a Lab Mix.  When he gets scared/upset, he gets a mohawk like a rhodesian ridgeback, and he sort of looks like one, so a lot of people think he's got some of that in him, but no one can agree on what else!  He's mostly a lighter brown, but his ears, nose, and the tip of his tail is black.

Davis is a Lab/Golden Mix, but also has other breeds mixed in.  He's got a black spot on his tongue, but other than that he's a light golden/yellowish color- or at least he was.  Turning very white, now.

    Were they a rescue?

I rescued Davis from a shelter when I was living in St. Louis, with my ex-boyfriend.

H rescued Marley with his ex-girlfriend from the humane society

     Funny story?

    Not necessarily funny, but:

    The story of Davis:

When my ex-boyfriend and I split, I moved back to CT, and I took Davis with me.  He and I moved in with my parents, and my mom really struggled with having a dog in the house, because of the hair.  I was in a really bad place emotionally/mentally/financially, so they did the best they could to support me and the pup.  Davis was my best friend, and really helped me get through that super rough patch in my life.

At some point, my brother could tell that while my mom loves Davis, she was having a hard time dealing with the hair, etc. He and his then-wife had a cat, and were thinking of getting a dog, so he offered to borrow Davis to give my mom a break, and also see how their cat would react to having a dog around the house.  I was also looking for an apartment at that time, and I was having a hard time finding one that would also take such a big dog, so it sort of worked out that my brother fell in love, and just never gave him back!  We live a few miles from each other, so I still got to see him all the time :).

Then my brother ended up going through a pretty rough divorce, and Davis was definitely his support system.  He's very much our family dog, and he has helped each of us out whenever we need him..  He's the best!

My brother and his now wife live a few miles from H and I, and Davis loves her two dogs.  They are such a pack, and he has really gotten over a lot of his anxiety, having buddies around!

     (wow, that got long... sorry)

(eta: Davis was actually named Diablo at the shelter.  They think he was about 3 when they found him wandering the streets.  He is the such a big fluffy pile of furry love and sweetness that we couldn't keep calling him Diablo, so we re-named him Davis!)

    How Many?  1 - cat

Name/s? Marlie (two Marlies on here?? I know the spelling is different.)  We named her Marlie from Marlboro because she has a raspy smoker's voice.  And she talks A LOT

Breed/color?  bengal, brown and black, stripes on the back, spots on the tummy

    Were they a rescue? Yes

Funny story?  Her favorite pastime is getting into trouble. But you can't stay mad at her because she's just too freakin cute!!  I say she has a "fiber paper problem" meaning she loves to lick and eat toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, any kind of fibery paper.  The other day she stuck her head inside an empty tissue box, looking for the last tissue I guess, and couldn't shake it off.  I snapped a picture before I helped her out, but I couldn't stop laughing! She was walking backwards and fell off the table before I got around to helping... oops XD

  • How Many? One Dog

    Name? Vegas (he is 8)

Breed/color? Lab, German Shepard, Chow mix; he is jet black (with a little grey beard now that he's older)

Rescue?  Yes, I got him from PAWS Chicago when I was living there.  Although he was 8 weeks when I got him, so I'm pretty sure that he was born in the shelter and that his mom was a stray.  I always say he couldn't survive a day on the street.

Funny story? When I got him, I was told that he was a boy, but when I got home, all the paperwork that they gave me said girl.  Thinking they mixed up his paperwork, I called the shelter to get the correct paperwork.  The secretary at the shelter started laughing as soon as I told her his "shelter name," Peanut.  She knew the story: when he was born his parts were so small they thought he was a girl and named him Patty.  It wasn't until the vet went in to spay him that they realized that Patty was a boy, and renamed him Peanut!  Poor guy.

  • How Many?

    Just one, for now ;)

    Name/s?

She's a girl named Clyde, we also call her Clyde Frog and Stinky Butt

    Breed/color?

She's a chihuahua/dachshund mix.  She's all tan with a white belly, and a white sock.

    Were they a rescue?

I don't think so... I got her from some lady on Craigslist who's dog had puppies

     Funny story?

My original thought was that I wanted two dogs named Bonnie and Clyde.  So when I got Clyde the lady that had her said she was a boy!!  And not knowing any better I believed her.  I figured the lady knew better than me and the "parts" would work themselves out (she was a tiny pup when i got her).  lol  My roommate's bf kept trying to tell us it was a girl, and we were like, "no, no... he's definitely a boy!" I didn't believe it until my mom was like, "it's definitely a girl!"  lol  Luckily that was before I took her to the vet and embarrased myself.  I didn't really like the name Bonnie for her so Clyde stuck.

She's the most cuddly lovey dovey doggie EVER!!  I love my Clyde Frog!!

Oh yeah, and Clyde gets the mohawk too when she gets angry, it's really funny!  :-P

bahahaha  both of our dogs probably have some sort of gender complex

  • How Many?

    2

    Name/s?

    Lilly and Ed

    Breed/color?

Lilly is half Jack Russel Terrier and half Fox Terrier and Ed is a Turtle--I know he doesn't have fur, but well, he's part of the family.

    Were they a rescue?

Yes--I was on the scene of Lilly's rescue. I saw an ad in the paper for a Jack Russel that needed a home for like 75 dollars. I had wanted to go through a rescue, but I was under 21 at the time and wouldn't pass the home review since I was a college kid. So I decided to go the penny pincher route for a Jack.  My mom, now husband and I drove out to see the dog and found this poor little 10 month old pup tied to a cinder block! She was so skinny, so desperate for love and really sick (500 plus bucks at the vet-yikes!). The guy had broken up with his fiance whom he bought the dog for and didn't want anything with her. He ended up giving her to us for free.

Ed was also a rescue--my dad (when we were closer) use to take in stray critters the game warden/vet would ask us to recuperate (long story) and he found this box turtle with a shell distortion and gave him to his 5 year old daughter (me). I still have him...20 years later...

     Funny story?

Lilly is both of our parent's granddog--she is spoiled rotten. She gets mail...from them...it is ridiculous.

  • Fur Babies

    How Many?

    Two

    Name/s?

Rex (almost 3 now), Chloe (just turned 2)

    Breed/color?

    Both are mutts :)

    Were they a rescue?

H got Rex just a few weeks before we started dating from some friends of his. Chloe came to us via my job. We have a local organization that helps unwanted animals find homes while being fostered to learn basic training. One of the foster moms brings the dogs to our office when it is time for vaccines and spaying/neutering. Chloe came to us one day with her brother to be fixed and I just fell in love. I called the foster mom to see if she was available and she said the lady that was going to take her had called 30 minutes prior to me calling saying she could no longer take her. I took her home that day and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. It really helped both Rex and I to have Chloe around because I got her a month after H left for overseas.

    Funny story?

Chloe is definitely our space cadet! She is quite the free spirit and half the time you can really tell that she's not really sure what is going on. She has been known to get 'lost' under a blanket and then just give up trying to get out and lay there (with just her head) stuck under the blanket until someone rescues her.

Rex is our cuddle bug! His favorite thing to do is to arrange all the pillows on our bed just how he likes them then lay right in the middle. Oh, and don't even think about getting out of bed in the middle of the night because he will steal your spot as soon as your feet hit the floor.

    1-kitty :)

    Name/s?

    Delilah

    Breed/color?

    Shes a calico

    Were they a rescue?

No... my step-aunt's cat had kitties, so I had to have her :)

     Funny story?

Ahh.. I have so many! Delilah plays fetch... what cat does that?! Haha.. and she gets super wild at night, she hops when she gets "scared" and zips around the house.. I think I am always laughing at her :)

  • How Many? 2 dogs

    Name/s? Tinkerbelle and Thunder

Breed/color? Tinkerbelle is a mix with a Golden Retriever and Bassett Hound, she is pretty much a miniture Golden. She looks Exactly like a Golden but has really short legs and a long body like a Bassett. She is one of a kind.

Thunder is a German Shepard mix but we dont know what he's mixed with. But he looks just like a GS.

Heres a link to our babies!

    https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150943127092389.433516.584937388&type=3

Were they a rescue? Yes, I rescued Tink at the animal shelter in 2005; she was already about a year old. And Thunder was rescued at the lake by our lake cabin. He and his 2 brothers were dumped and while we were at the lake our friends' kids found them in the woods and brought them to us. They were probably around 5 to 6 weeks old, still couldnt even walk straight :( They were soooo tiny. And so we all ended up taking one home. So all 3 abandoned puppies got a home and we get them together for brother puppy play dates :)

    Funny story?

Thunder is just a typical boy puppy. He wants to eat everything, dirt, rocks, licks windows for no reason. He is just a cool dude!

When I adopted Tink they had to ?fix? her before I could bring her home. Well the paperwork at the shelter said it was a boy dog and I named him Buster!! So I was finally able to bring her home from the shelter and I wanted to check out her (then thinking it was a him) stitches from being fixed. And the stitches were in the middle of her belly and I Freaked out thinking they CUT OFF his little man parts. So I called my mom and told her and she said they must have mixed it up and thought it was a boy but it was definitely a girl dog! So it took me a few days to figure out a girl name for her cuz I just loved the name Buster for a boy J

  • How Many? - 1

    Name/s? - Tucker

Breed/color? - He's a purebred basset hound, tri colour, so he's brown, white and black

Were they a rescue? - No, I got him from a breeder, he was a product of my relationship before H.. we'd been together for like 4 years.. got a dog.. were going to finish university and move out together etc. etc.... well 6 months later we broke up and I got custody of the dog :)

     Funny story? - I have a couple:

    1. He is SOOO lazy.. in the monring.. before we go to work we have to wake him up to get him to go outside. And half the time.. you have to go in and shake his kennel to get him moving.. simply calling him isn't enough.. he'll go out and pee.. and come right back in and go back to sleep.

    2. WHen he was a puppy his ears were sooooo long he'd trip over them.. cutest thing ever. Anyways, one night he went to chase his tail.. but his head was down, so when he turned to get his tail.. he stepped on his ears and actually flipped himself over! lol adorable!

I love my Tucker, and he instantly got along with H and H loves him... it's great.

  • How Many?

    2 cats

    Name/s?

    Maximus (3) and Lucy (2)

    Breed/color?

Maximus is a little tiger kitty (grey with black & white stripes and pink feet - so cute!)

Lucy is tiny and all black - except for a few white hairs on her chest and has gold eyes

    Were they a rescue?

We got Maximus from a farm, so not really although it seemed that the family there sold the kittens as kind of a side business for a little extra money and I had a feeling that they would get rid of the ones who did not sell.

    Lucy is a shelter kitty.

     Funny story?

Tons of funny stories - Maximus stealing turkey from the kitchen during Thanksgiving dinner when we had like 15 friends over was a pretty good one. He managed to grab an entire wing and ran into the bedroom with it. He eats pretty much everything - popcorn, pop tarts and especially ice cream!

  • love this post...

    How Many?  2

Name/s?  Duke and Daisy  - both just turned 6

Breed/color?  Duke is a yellow lab and his sister Daisy is a black lab

Were they a rescue? Might as well have been.  I worked with a gal whose lab had puppies.  Thinking she could sell pure breed labs very easily and found out quite the opposite.  My now H and I had always wanted labs, but had literally just bought our house and didn't have a fence and were not prepared for two large dogs.  This gal had all these puppies, but couldn't sell them and was going to be forced to "put them down".  H and I just could not let that happen.  We went with the intent of adopting one and came home with two!  Duke was the biggest of the litter (now 110lbs and Daisy was the runt (now 86lbs) and he just took care of her.  We couldn't have one without the other.

Funny story? What isn't funny about our Dukie Monster and Daisy Maisy.  I was walking them during the winter when they were two.  I took them on the golf course, because it was wide open and they could just run and be free.  They spotted a deer and took off running.  Now me running in two feet of snow is not an easy feat.  By the time I reached them they were off sniffing who knows what just playing around.  Deer long gone.  This women came out of nowhere and preceeded to tell me my dogs are demon devil dogs because they were "chasing" the deer and she was going to call the cops.  They have been fugitives ever since!

  • Fur Babies

    How Many? 1

Name/s? Skookum the Hedgehog (13 months)

Breed/color? African Pygmy Hedgehog, mostly brown

Were they a rescue? Sort of....H wanted a hedgehog after seeing them in the pet store (for about $500 not including the $100 cage or $40 wheel, or anything) and I said "well if we can find a good deal on craigslist we'll get one". So we researched them and decided they would indeed be a great pet...and then H found one on craigslist that was only a month old. We went out to see him and apparently the owner was a 14 year old girl who had gotten it for her birthday, but they had 2 very large very aggressive dogs who were determined to eat the hedgehog so she had to get rid of him. When we got him he was very very very traumatized, wouldn't let us hold him, freaked out if he even saw a shadow, but he is doing much better now :)

    Funny story?

He likes to run around with his head stuck in a toilet paper tube....its hilarious but he loves it! Also when we first got him we bougth him mealworms because supposidly thats hedgies fave treat...but he was terrified of them and ran and hid when we put them in his dish.

Heres pictures from last year: http://algenina.blogspot.ca/2011/10/skookum.html

  • Fur Babies

    How Many? One

    Name/s? Kayla

    Breed/color? Black Lab

Were they a rescue? Yes, we got her from someone who was looking to get rid of her because he couldn't take care of her. Turns out that was a huge understatement, he was leaving her alone in a tiny apartment from 7am to midnight most days and couldn't afford dog food, she was SO skinny when we picked her up, it was heartbreaking :(

Funny story? So many to mention! We have had so many "Marley and Me" monments with this dog. The best is probably when she was in the backseat of the car and she managed to hold the button to put the window down and decided it would be a good idea to go for a run... When I looked in my side mirror I saw half of her body hanging out of the car and I squealed to DH to pull over!

    How Many?

    Name/s?

    Tino and Mo..

    Breed/color?

Black cats domestic short hair we think

    Were they a rescue?

I found them in my backyard so I guess so

     Funny story?

Tino thinks he is a dog, he follows me around, loves attention, drinks from the toilet bowl, and begs for food.

Tino also sometimes thinks his dry food is to hard so he takes a mouth full of food and puts in the water bowl then mixes it and then takes his paw and picks the food up and eats it.

Mo when she was a kitten broke her leg and was not allowed outside.  Well one day she got outside and my mother, father and I were running around the backyard after her.

Jasper - silver and black tabby

Were they a rescue?  Socks and Lilly came from the shelter, Jasper was a stray

    Name/s? Jameson

Breed/color? He is a chow chow/dachshund mix. I have no idea how that is even physically possible, but we had a DNA test done. He's got red/cinnamon color fur with a white chest and white paws.

Were they a rescue? He was a rescue from Alabama and we picked him up at a sister rescue in NH.

Funny story? Around 6 months old Jameson decided to give peeing with one leg up a try like a big boy dog. As soon as he got his leg up he lost his balance, fell onto his back, and couldn't stop peeing... he's 3 years old now and hasn't lifted his leg since that day :)

    Name/s?

Kara (but we call her Kara-dog most of the time, or Kara-frog, or frog-dog)

    Breed/color?

We think she's a border collie/shepherd mix ... but not really sure. She's black with white on her chest and a bit around her muzzle.

    Were they a rescue?

Yup, we got her from the local humane society about 3.5 years ago. She was a stray before that ... and clearly suffers from mistrust and (we think) previous abuse. But she's such a love to us.

     Funny story?

This dog is so smart. We used to crate her when we'd leave the house, and she had a towel and her rope toy in there. Well, after we got home she wanted her towel, and so she grabbed it with her mouth and pulled -- but couldn't get it out of the crate. So, she walked into the crate, grabbed the rope toy, picked it up (off the towel), and moved it. Then, she walked out of the crate, grabbed the towel, and brought it to the living room. She is fully capable of understanding cause-and-effect ... so ridiculously smart!
