Back in February I applied for lead teacher position at an agency in the older toddler room. I didn't get the job because while I have a teaching certification which qualifies me to teach preschool as an assistant teacher and a bachelors in psychology and a masters in human services, I am not lead teacher qualified. I ended up being a sub in the 4 different classrooms with kids ranging from 3 months to 5 years old.
Luckily I was subbing at least 30 hours each week.
Within a week my supervisor was saying how great all of the teachers thought I was and that they usually end up hiring their substitute teachers.
Then in June another lead teacher position opened up in the pre-k classroom. They were waiting until September to fill the position and have the new teacher start.
I applied for the position and subbed in the spot all summer, I acted as the assistant teacher while the existing assistant teacher acted as the lead teacher. A few weeks ago I found out that I did not get the position, but I was offered the 3rd teacher position (I would cover breaks and planning periods in the preschool and pre-k classrooms) which is 25 per week and I get benefits plus my pay would increase.
While I was sad I didn't get the lead teacher position, I was glad to have a job, and although it is not guaranteed, I would probably end up subbing the rest of the 15 hours each week about 80% of the time.
Then today I found out that he lead teacher in the preschool classroom would be taking another position and instead of advertising the position at the start of the school year and changing teachers (again!) they are moving the pre-k lead teacher (newly hired) to preschool and I will get to be the lead teacher in the pre-k classroom!
They decided it would make for a much seamless transition from summer to fall with the new class coming in and keep a level of consistency with the children.
I am so excited to finally have a full-time permanent position!

That's great! One of my close friends recently found out she will be a new teacher (school starts Monday!) after over a year of looking, doing random part time jobs. I'm glad everything worked out.
