Is this right?

So I remember before the weddings everyone was saying deodorant to use to prevent chaffing. Well what do you use to "heal" it? Can you use deodorant for that too?

H has some powder he uses sometimes but it seems like with this heat any time I wear jeans my legs get some type of chaffing no matter what I do. Even if it's jean shorts it's gonna happen. The powder helps but it takes like days and sometimes I can't wait that long.

Any remedies?

Re: Is this right?

  • I don't think you can use deodorant after you have already chaffed. I'm trying to remember what H used for chaffing after he ran his marathon... He might have just let it heal by itself, actually. But I'm sure there's deodorant looking sticks at the drug store for that. Good luck!

  • I'm not sure if it's vagisil or monosil but one of them makes a anti chaffing lotion that is for the vaginal area and thighs.  Not sure if you can use it after the fact though.

  • BIL uses baby powder for chaffng.. He runs a lot and I know he puts baby powder on before and after on his thighs.

  • You aren't supposed to put deodorant on broken skin, so I'd avoid using it until the chafing is 100% healed.

H is a big runner, and uses Vaseline to prevent chafing.  Might be a bit messy for everyday use, though.  Honestly, I'd avoid any "product" and just wear some under armour type tights under your jeans and shorts (something tight enough so that it isn't going to rub).

  • You could try Bag Balm. It can be found in the drug strore and will help with healing. Gold Bond makes a powder for chaffing. When I'm out on my bike I use Chamois Butter, but I don't think this will help when wearing denim.
  • I'll use either baby powder or lotion to prevent chaffing. If you already have it, lotion might help soothe it.
