Crib Mattress Help

Our crib is ordered, but we still haven't picked a mattress.  What mattress did you get for your crib?  We're at a total loss on which one to get.

Re: Crib Mattress Help

  • we got a foam one. I believe this is the one we have.

I really love that it is super light and makes taking it in and out to change sheets super easy. We have had it for 2 years and it is still in great shape and we still love it.

  • I think that's the same one we registered for... it's whichever one Baby Bargains recommends.  I'm glad to hear you like it Lindsey!

  • We have the firm Collgate Classica (I believe that's what it's called). If you can get your hands on a book called "Baby Bargains" it might help your search. I found it really useful in guiding me with a lot of my baby purchases.

  • I don't have any advice, obviously, but I'm looking forward to responses.  I feel so behind on this whole baby thing.

DH wanted a foam one and I didn't know if they were good for babies. Thanks so much for the info. And I didn't even think about the fact that you have to remove it to change the sheets! The simple things you don't think about and yet are so important!!

  • We got the Safety 1st firm foam baby and toddler mattress that came in the bundle with the Graco Lauren crib from Walmart. It's firm, light, and everything that Baby Bargains recommends and yet was only about $40. We put our crib together today and I'm happy with it so far, we'll see once the baby gets here. All the reviews I read about it were positive as well.

  • We also got a foam one.  I forget what it's called but I want to say it was Sealy.  It has two sides one that is more firm for when they are under a year and then the other side is a bit softer for when they are older - I can't really tell the difference though myself.  I really like it.  It is very light and easy for me to get in and out of the crib to change the sheets.

  • I think the foam mattress is the best for crib. It is really comfortable and protective. Baby foam mattresses are designed specifically for the babies and these are really good. Use of a mattress protector along with the mattress gives extra security and comfort.
