Meaningful Monday, 8/27 edition
Michele is away, and may not have internet access, so I'm opening this post today! Share the good, happy, wonderful things that happened this past week and made you smile! I hope you all have a fabulous week as this month draws to a close
Re: Meaningful Monday, 8/27 edition
We had a wonderful time celebrating our annual Christmas (in August) yesterday with my sister & BIL, mom, and a few aunts, uncles, cousins & friends. Yes, we played Christmas music, and had a decorated Christmas tree, and presents. Then there was the usual summer BBQ fare, and swimming. Perfect way to spend the day! Now to start shopping for the main event 4 months from now
I'm grateful that we had a good weekend. DS was a trooper at the Irish Fest on Saturday and I was able to bribe him with animal crackers to keep the ear muffs on because the music was too loud for little ears. He also napped, despite all the people (and dogs, his favorite!) around.
I'm grateful that we are making progress, albeit slowly, on the house. It feels really good to be going through our things and paring down on stuff we no longer need and/or want. Our house is plenty big enough for 4 people, but we've managed to fill it up with stuff over the past 5 years and the cleanout and reorganization is making me feel really good. I'll feel even better when we drop off a whole load of stuff at the Salvation Army.
I'm grateful that DS is finally showing some interest in talking. He has always been ahead in motor and problem solving skills, but has been very slow to vocalizing. He doesn't speak well, or much, but he does talk now! And he's really been great about following our instructions. He knows a lot of what we say to him, so I have hope that one day he'll just start babbling whole sentences!
Well, I'm on vacation and it started Friday so I'm grateful for lots ;-)
Friday was a whirlwind of errands, new car seats for Maddy (big girl!), packing, etc. I'm glad that we got to RI safely on Saturday despite heavy traffic and a few close calls with accidents just in front of us.
I'm also so glad that our flights were not only on time on Sunday, but we landed at each arrival destination EARLY. The kids enjoyed the longer layover, they got to stretch their legs, eat, etc. Then Maddy slept on the second flight and it was so peaceful - I actually got to read part of a book!
It's a great start to a long vacation -- last night we were able to spend time with an old friend, one with whom I've had some disagreements lately so it was nice to be together in person and hug it out. More visits planned in the week ahead, then some much needed cabin time. I can't wait to just put my feet up on an ottoman and read, if the kids allow anyway!
