Bottom Dollar review

My DH went to Bottom Dollar on Sunday & I met up with him towards the end so I thought I'd chime in with some thoughts.  He went around 10 on Sunday and it was crowded.  The lines don't move as quick as Aldis even though its bag your own so go early. Good thing is they open at 8.

I was surprised at all the brand name food & produce.  They had a lot of fresh fruit & veges- all different kinds like you wouldn't expect and so far every thing has been really fresh & good (strawberries, raspberries, grapes).   Prices much cheaper than GEagle.

They had a 10 lb bag of potatoes for $1.50 which was a steal (if you can use the potatoes!).  For those that keep good track of deals I think its worth it to compare to see what is really cheaper.  I was impressed at the types of food but it was a bit more crowded than I like for a quick shopping  trip so I would go earlier.

Re: Bottom Dollar review

  • I have been going to bottom dollar for mainly Butter and eggs. With all the baking I do they by far have the best deal REGULARLY the prices compare to the sales I have to wait for at other stores.  18 ct eggs are like $1.69 and butter ( had gone up) but is $1.99lb.

I love that they seem to have all the brands that i actually use.  There are not a ton of name brand things I ALWAYS buy but they have them all.  Simply Hienz ketchup, Tyson honey batter chicken tenders are almost half the price they are at GE,  Philly cream cheese, Giant bread, Nutigrain bars, eggos to name a few.

I havent done a full on price comparison, but If I am there, or plan on going I will buy other things there as well.  I still do most of my shopping at GE.

I have had issues lately of going between 3 and 5 pm and the lines are a bit much and only one register is open or they call 3 times for help so by the time they get there more people are in line anyway and it's all the same!

  • I agree with your review, Sheila!  I went on Sunday around 3pm (which probably makes me certifiably insane, I usually avoid grocery stores like the plague on Sunday afternoons!)  And I had an ok experience---there were great deals on some stuff, and so-so deals on other things.  Some things I found to be higher priced than walmart, other stuff was a bit cheaper, so I guess it all balanced out somewhere.  I'll probably go back the next 2 weeks just to use the coupons they sent (I won't pass up a free $10!), but will stick to Aldi for most of my produce purchases (cheaper and right across the street from me)

  • BD is right by our daycare and walking distance from our home, so regardless of the sales its always more convient to us!

We go to there probably 3 to 5 times a month, GE 2x a month and walmart 1 time. I miss Aldis, but BD is so much more easier.

  • I finally went a couple of weekends ago and wasn't impressed. I really didn't think their prices were any cheaper than I could find elsewhere, except for maybe a couple of things they had on sale.

There isn't one close to me anyway, but even if there was - I'd still stick with Aldi.

  • And they do accept manufacturer's coupons.

Emmy - FYI that GE and SnS will accept BD coupons. :)

  • I have really enjoyed their produce.  They only thing I have not been impressed with is their bread.

I didn't realize that, good to  know, thanks!
