Re: Humidifier and Convertible Carseat recs?

  • I have yet to find a humidifier that I like but for carseats we have the Britax roundabout.  We have 2 (one for each girl) and I don't have any complaints.

  • We have a Britax Marathon, that eleni is still using in my car (almost 5 years old, 38lbs).  I believe the forward facing weight limit is 65lbs, and I think she will out grow it by height first. We gave my parents the Decathalon we had in Kevin's car when I found a booster with a 5pt harness for a good price. I figure we may get another year out of the Marathon before I have to buy her a booster for my car! Britax are more expensive in general. But between it and the Graco 3 in 1 booster we have I much prefer taking the Britax one in and out of the car, the LATCH buckles are just easier to use.

ETA humidifiers, we have a Vicks one, warm mist. It does its job. no complaints.

  • We have a Britax Boulevard CS and are really happy with it. We are still rear-facing in it. It's pretty easy to switch in and out of cars when needed, like Amanda said.

I don't like our humidifier that much, so no recs there.

  • I think we have a Vicks humidifier (cool mist) and like it well enough. Convertible car seats - we both have Evenflo Triumph 65s in our cars. It's rear facing up to 40lbs and forward facing up to 65. I love, love, love this car seat! I had a Cosco Scenera in my car at first and had so many issues with getting it secured, I was thrilled to switch to the Evenflo (DH had one in his car). My fave feature is that it has knobs on either side that you use to tighten/loosen the straps when putting your kiddo in and taking them out. Love it!
  • Another vote for Britax here.  We have a Marathon and a Boulevard and like them both.  We are still rear facing.

I have bad luck with humidifiers so no recs here.

  • we have a crane vaporizer (they come in animal shapes) that I've been pleased with.  Prior to that, we had a vicks one that leaked all over the floor, so nearly anything would have been an improvement over that :)

we have the evenflo Gwen mentioned in both cars for Liam, I love the knob on the side, so much easier to crank than trying to pull a strap between their legs (like Jake's 3 in 1 Graco seat).

  • Another vote for Britax Boulevard.  We also have a Britax Roundabout in T's car.  It is not as nice but about half the price. You can't go wrong with Britax.

  • we have the a evenflo and a britax. Both work great.

I have a real love hate relationship with about 5 different vaporizers I've bought in the last year or so. Grrrr. We switched to cool mist per the ped but even with changing the water it got yucky. Or I went through a filter every couple weeks. grrrr. I was always paranoid about mold. Joys of motherhood.

  • We have the first years true fit seat - it's got a really tall shell (but removable headrest for when they are smaller and rear facing) and good height/weight limits.  It's nice and cushy, too.
