It's been requested that I have fondu at my cookie exchange - anybody got a tried and true recipe?

  • This one is my favorite of all-time.

    Garlicky Cheese Fondue

8 oz Monterey Jack cheese, coarsely grated

8 oz Muenster cheese, coarsely grated

    2 TBSP corn starch

1 cup chicken stock or white wine

    3 tsp minced garlic

1 TBSP Kirsch (I omit because I usually don't have)

    ? tsp salt

    ? tsp black pepper

    ? tsp nutmeg

In a bowl or large plastic bag, combine the cheeses and toss with the cornstarch to coat. Set aside until ready to use.

In a fondue pot or large heavy saucepan, bring the stock/wine and garlic to a simmer over medium-low heat. Add the cheese a bit at a time, stirring well to prevent from clumping, and cook until melted.

Add the Kirsch, salt, pepper, and nutmeg and stir well. Cook until mixture is smooth, stirring constantly, 3-5 min.

Adjust the seasoning to taste. Serve hot with assorted dipping items.

  • Not sure what happened to the formatting there...
