What I don't get about all these 1st time posters....
Most of them start out with "I was on the Knot and have moved over here" - why the new siggy and brand new count?
I have my "take". Curious as to what others think.

Re: What I don't get about all these 1st time posters....
1 of 2 things,
1 they don't want what they have said on the knot follow them here
or
2 now that they are married they have made new accounts for many things due to the excitement.
When I made my Knot id name, it incorporated my first name into it. My first name is not common. When I came to the Nest I realized that was a bad idea and came up with a more anonymous id--maybe they have done that as well?
OR--they are trying to drum up interest in the boards because they are still SO DEAD since the big exodus?
or there's no one else left to post?

I always thought that The Knot post count didn't carry over to The Nest, but I might be wrong.
When I started to post on TN I changed my name. My name used to have my first name in it, and just like PP said, I wanted something that wasn't so abvious.

I dont think that its true. I have been on TK, TN and TB since their inceptions (before I was even dating - dont ask). I am also on other Nationaly Known (read message boards tied to magazines) and the number of "newbies" is pretty much the same.
It all depends on the individual policies of regestration. If you can register and immediately post, you have more. If there is a wait period, you see less.
I believe that the reasons are two-fold.
1) Posters go anonymous because they dont want to be tied to the question - either because the know the type of board it is, or because they know - deep down - their stance is wrong.
2) The poster is stirring the pot for entertainment value.
Dont get me wrong, I would not put it past them to try to do this, but MSN tried this very thing and it didnt work. They dont pay the moderators and have yet to put the money into fixing the actual issues. And again, if you go to any of the commercial message boards like TK, you will see the same thing.
That is soo weird. I mean my siggy and everything is the same, but as soon as I posted as a nesty I noticed I had zero posts! I'm surprised that it's not all synced together as it should be.

Is there a way to change your name here without creating a whole new account? I actually have considered changing mine just in case - but in the end, it's not such a huge deal, I guess since I don't really know anyone else in my inner circle who reads or knows about this board...
This is what happened to me:
Was on TK a few years ago planning the wedding. Then DH and I turned off our internet connection and there TK and TN were blocked on my work computer so I stopped getting on. Then when we go internet hooked up again, I couldn't remember my password to save my life! So I just made a new account. I promise I am not posting MUD and am a real person!!
I only have posts on TN counted. They don't count my posts on the other sites. The posts excist...but are not counted on TN.
