Costume help

I'm throwing Jackson a Jake and the Neverland Pirates birthday party in early October. The boys are being Jake and Captain Hook, and I've decided to dress myself as Izzy.

I have red boots, any ideas on where I could obtain the purple pants, and pink puffy shirt? how I could make the bandanna and pixy dust holder? I don't think it's difficult, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Re: Costume help

  • I'm not creative enough to be much help, but I just wanted to say that I LOVE the fact that you're dressing to fit the theme.  I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff.

  • I trip to Joanns or Michaels to get fabric and some neckalce stuff for the pixie dust holder ( maybe glitter for dust)

and then, since colored jeans are all over the place maybe you could try gap or maybe do a royal blue pair something to get more wear out of them?

Thats a really cute party idea. I like Doc McStuffins the best out of all DJs offerings lol

  • Colored jeans are really in right now, so I bet you could find purple ones anywhere.  I have seen them at Old Navy and Kohl's.

I don't know about the other stuff.  But, the "puffy shirts" always make me think of the Seinfeld episode where he was dating the "soft talker" and ended up in a puffy shirt for one of his shows.  "But I don't wanna be a pirate!"   Smile

  • Looks like you could get the pixie dust pouch on etsy.

but looking at that picture, you could probably get a little gold bag from Michaels or somewhere...like the kind they use for wedding favors for candy or whatever, then just loop some type of string or something else shiny through it to use as a necklace.

This was going to be my suggestion for the pixie dust. And for the pink top, maybe get a flowy pink peasant top or tunic? Old Navy typically has cotton tops like that you may luck out there!

  • OMG, we're thinking of doing the same thing for Halloween!!  Mason has told us that he will be Jake, Garrett will be Cubby, I will be Izzy, and he rotates Rich between Captain Hook and Sharky or Bones.  I don't have any suggestions, but have fun...we are a Jake obsessed house right now!
  • It sounds like a trip to old navy for discount clothing is in order :D

I think i will do glitter in the little pouch. I'm sure My Little Outback will be in heaven when I sprinkle the kids with pixy dust before they fly in the bounce house.

  • Colored denim is in right now. I think I actually saw purple pants at Walmart a week or so ago. I know the Salvation Army sorts clothes by color, so that could make your quest easier!

    Really cute idea!

    Agreed!! Too darn cute!

  • Such a fun idea Lisa!  I think it should be pretty easy to throw an outfit together that gets close enough to convince Jackson's friends!

EJ is going to be Doc McStuffins for Halloween this year Wink crazy me is knitting her a purple striped sweater...

  • Since we're on a Disney Jr. roll in this post, do any of your kids watch Octonauts?  Jake discovered it when we were on vacation,it's cute, too.  Our regular rotation is now Octonauts, Doc McStuffins, and Jake & the Neverland Pirates (with Imagination Movers sometimes thrown in)

  • Nevermind - I suggested Kohls and realized the pants were girls. Sorry!

Octonauts is Steve's favorite of the Disney Jr. shows that are shown in our house. There's just something about the creature report and the little song and dance they do that he loves---plus the show involves nerdy animal facts, which he loves.

We're also Octonauts, Doc and Jake, but with an occasional Mickey Mouse Clubhouse thrown in.

We like Octonauts too, and Jake and Doc. But I also really like Charlie and Lola.  I dislike the Imagination movers and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. They just annoy me.

Octonauts fans here also!! ANd Doc Mc Stuffins and the other Disney JR shows. We made the switch a few months ago from Nick JR (although still watch some) which should fair well going to Disney next week! :)

  • I can't wait to see how your costume turns out.  I need to figure out something for V to wear besides her pirate eye patch and a couple of pirate tattoos that we have, lol.  Or maybe we'll let the baby wear the eye patch, j/k.  V watches the show at my parents' house but we've never watched it so I am very unfamiliar.

V's favor on DJ is Gaspard and Lisa.  Such a bizarre show. Crudely drawn bunnies that live amongst humans in Paris.

I think Gaspard and Lisa are actually dogs, if you can believe that!

That is another odd show... why are they dogs when the rest of the people around them are people? And how is it that no one finds that odd besides me?

  • Amanda, I think that every time they come on after Doc. We don't usually watch them, but one day I looked up the books to try and figure out why they're dogs attending a school for kids. I didn't find an answer :(

My entire family (including my parents) have always thought they were bunnies because of the ears.  I can't believe they are actually dogs.  What dogs have ears like that?
