Is this real life?!

So I work at a small college in the Philadelphia area in their admissions dept. Classes started yesterday...we get 2 phone calles today. One from a girl who is dropping classes because she doesnt want to go over the bridge from NJ everyday. Its a 10 min ride other then that and other whose mom told us "she had a bad first day and is too afaird and nervous to go to school." and lets her drop out because of this.

Seriously?! My mom would of been like get your a** back to school. Actually she did multiple times and Im very thankful for her...we are in trouble ladies if these are the people going to rule the world one day!

  • Looks like it's time to cut the cord, mommy!!

You need to tell these kids to put their big girl panties on and become an adult!! The world isn't that scary, I promise.

  • That is crazy! I hate parents who baby their kids beyond infancy.

  • My favorite is the 30+ year old clients we have who's PARENTS call us becuase their son needs a divorce.. or daughter.. or whatever... and pays their retainer.... in my opinion.. if you're old enough to put on your big boy pants and get married.. keep them on and call your own freaking lawyer! I understand some financial help.. but really.. you can't even make the phone call?

  • I know I only work retail..but I hateee when parents come in with their kids or without and are like can you PLEASE find the same fish so my 1-12 yr old doesnt realize it died???!!!  Im like seriously??? 1-3 yrs..ok..their babies..but once ya past 5?? grow up a bit and let ur kid learn life and death reality..its just a fish/hamster etc....I may sound heartless but with as much death as Ive gone thru lately ..my little sister (9yrs old) has been right there too and she hasnt had anything sugar coated and has done pretty good considering...and has even helped us adults look at things differently...this is the same sister who was 3 yrs old and came and told me her fish had died and need to flush it....guess we dont sugar coat in this family eh? lol
  • If my kid was just starting college and decided after one day to quit, I'd say "hell no." What these sheltered kids don't realize is that this is life! Life isn't always rainbows and unicorns. Buck up and deal with it! You'll miss out on a lot if you quit everytime something doesn't go your way.
  • We get parents coming in to apply for jobs on behalf of their kids all the time at the rink.   Not just drive their kid, or walk in with the kid... Not just pick up an application, or drop it back off.. I mean takes an application, sits down, fills it out, and all the while, there's no kid in sight.

     Crazy pants.
