I am on WW and as part of it I decided to cut carbs. I never realized how much bread and pasta I was eating. It worked the 1st week and I lost 4 lbs. I have 2 questions though...1) What is a good amount of carbs to have in a day? I was looking at the South Beach and Atkins websites and 20-30 carbs per day doesn't seem like a lot. 2) I feel like I am going to get stuck in a rut though...what are some good foods to eat? I know fruits/veggies and protein. Thanks!

Re: Low Carb Help
1) You should be careful with doing low carb diets for too long. They, like vegan diets, aren't something you can do for the rest of your life. I've read stories online of people who low carbed for years and their health improved immediately. Then they started to experience health problems such as low body temperature and lethargy.
2) I also limit the amount of bread and pasta in my diet but I eat rice more often. I have omelets for breakfast, fruit and nuts as snacks, chicken and veggies or salad for lunch. For dinner I have Thai food, Indian food, chicken, vegetables and rice, or fajitas without the tortilla. What's great about international cuisine is that they don't rely on bread and pasta.
I would also like to add that if you are drinking any "diet" drinks like soda you should consider stopping the habit. While they are technically low carb the chemicals in them cause some people to gain weight and/or have stomach issues.
I limit carbs too but have also swapped out bad carbs for somewhat better carbs. My DH loves white rice but I made a stir fry yesterday and put it over quinoa. He really liked it and it is more protein than rice and cooks a bit faster.
Try spegetti squash too instead of pasta.
