Nesting... H just learned the term
So this weekend was awesome.... H has owned his/our house for 7 years and his decorating style is grownup but very wood/brown/white motif. All white walls, brown couches and oak cabinets, etc. But when we moved in just before the wedding my purple, blue, and red comforters and couches, and all sorts of art invaded :-)
But for the first time since I moved in/the wedding/our crazy summer we got to settle into the house and make it ours.
So this weekend we bought a new washer/ dryer to replace the 1985 versions we currently have!! Yay for real cold and delicate cycles. Then we picked up paint samples which I have taped all over the wall (sage green, and 3 shades of blue). We also looked at new hardware for the cabinets- brushed nickel to replace brass.
H and his brother then tore down 3 cabinets in the kitchen that used to separate the kitchen and dining room opening it up with tons of light and making the counter much more usable.
And finally- H and I bought a new chandelier to replace the 1985 wood/etched glass/brass version that currently is hanging there. It's a polished nickel with white sconces and so exciting that we agreed upon something within 20 minutes.
Ah.... wonderful unexpected weekend. Oh and when I called it nesting H asked if I learned that from "the boards". Ah he's such a boy.

Good Job! We're still working on merging styles and I've been here for about 2 years. There's still a case of model Nascar cars in my living room and a signed hockey stick. Enough said.
But on a plus note, the wooden wagon wheel light fixture has been replaced with a ceiling fan in the kitchen.

Ah my H is a car guy- we have a dedicated car room downstairs with models, neon, manuals, boxes of stuff (nicely organized) in IKEA cubes, and posters. I told him he got one room as the reference library and he loves it.
Pictures will be delayed but when the color goes up on the wall they will be definately posted.
Sprinkler broke today so that maybe a bit delayed (sigh) but more time to pick the perfect color.
