sometimes it's hard walking out that door in the morning.

I had to leave Jake in tears this morning, poor kid was so nervous about preschool starting back up.  He's in the same school, and the same larger class, but they changed around groups and teachers based on ages of the kids, so he technically has a new group and teacher for the preschool portion of the day.  He was crying and saying that he is going to miss his old friends so much, and was going to bring in a sheet of stickers to give to them so that they "wouldn't forget him".  I tried explaining to him that he will still see them at lunch, and during free play times, etc...but I don't think he was really processing that.  I'm sure that at that age, it seems like the end of the world to not be in the same group as your close friends anymore!

This being a mom business is not always easy. Sad

  • Aw, poor buddy! Lanna's sad about her new class too. She has a lot of the same kids, but she loved her teacher last year and the couple of girls she was closest to graduated to K.

I also had a hard time leaving this a.m. DH is still on vacay, so I had to leave Wes with him at home and it did not go over well.

  • aw that's the worst.  I'll never forget when Caileigh used to cry every morning when I dropped her off.  Talk about a stressful start to your day.

Hang in there - if tradition holds they will both be smiling and excited at the end of the day & ready to go back tomorrow.

  • Eleni had a hard time at drop off this morning too... and I think she would have rather gone to Kindergarten than to her Pre-K class again (with the same kids she was in class week last week and fine with). I don't think it helped that K and I were both working from home today either.  Poor girl.  I am sorry Jake was having a hard transition too. I am sure he will make new friends fast.
  • I said this in the email I just sent you, but the picture of him on facebook was killing me!! I'm sure he'll have an awesome day, but that was breaking MY heart! Lol! Hang in there - I'm sure he's going to love it.

  • Thanks, ladies, I appreciate it!  I just talked to Brian, he said that Jake was surprisingly ok at drop off, just a bit timid to go in, but there were no more tears once he was there.  Phew!

  • It's so hard to leave when the kids are acting like they really need you! I hope he has an amazing first day in his new class!

  • Aww he is so sweet with the stickers. I know how you feel-especially when YOU want to just cry but have to be the tough one for them! I hope by tomorrow he is excited!!
  • Aww! Dd is a few months older than most of her friends so she always moves up to the next room before her friends and she hates it. I'm excited for this week for her because all her friends should finally be moving up to the pre-k room with her. But I totally understand what you're going through! So hard when she didn't want to go to school!
