First day of preschool

was MUCH harder on me than it was on dd.  She loved it and said, "I kind of just want to stay here (preschool)."  When I went to pick her up.  Me on the other hand, got about 10 minutes of sleep last night and I might just lock myself in a room with old baby clothes and cry myself silly later.   Where did my baby go?!?!?!Crying

Re: First day of preschool

  • I think these things are always harder on us than they are on the little ones!  Since Jake has been in daycare forever, him starting preschool wasn't a big transition for me...but next year?  with kindergarten?  Watch out, I'll be a sobbing mess, I'm sure.  I can't even drive by a school bus in our neighborhood without getting weepy.

I'm glad she had so much fun!

  • I've been remembering L's first day lately and how hard it was for me. This year is no sweat, but next year for K I'm going to be a mess all over again! It doesn't help that her birthday is this week and that always makes me sentimental to begin with.

L was the same way -- from day 1 she was never ready to leave when I got there to pick her up. It's for sure harder on us! Which is a good thing, we can handle it ;)

Haha I remember talking to Mandy before our girls started preschool last year and I was pretty sure I was going to say my DD is out! I still have a picture on my phone I took of her and I and I was a MESS but thank goodness she loved it from day 1 as I would much rather be the one that has to adjust. Now, next year with K? I get sad thinking about it!

I don't think I could handle her birthday in the same week.  Good Luck!  Kindergarten already makes me cry and it's 2 years away.

  • Today was Brinley's "first" day too--although it's at her daycare that she goes to every day so it was no big deal.  She was a little miffed when she found out that preschool wasn't going to be anywhere different.

But I'm sure kindergarten will be a rough transition for me.  I vividly remember her first day of daycare.  I was bawling like a baby and she looked at me and smiled.  I'm hoping for the same chain of events in 2 years.

     Hang in there!

  • I did not really have a problem with the fact that he was going, or leaving him, or that he didnt even think twice before running in without saying goodbye. I am glad he was excited and happy to be there. If Adam would have cried, I probably would have too...

DH on the other hand- NEEDED that big hug he gave him when the teacher told him to go tell us good bye!

We went for coffee and did a little shopping while he was in school and DH just kept saying how weird it was to not have him in the car with us!

We don't get out much alone...and when we do he is always with our parents or my sister, usually at home.

It didnt bother me, maybe because I am usually not with him that time of the day. It is just him and DH at home for the last 4 yrs all morning long.

HOWEVER he ran out of there when we came to pick him up and BURST out in sobbing tears! He just kept sayin he missed us, and that made me tear up a little.  The teachers said he did great in school except for the last song they did he didnt want to do and sat there and waited. Hopefully he is ok with going back tomorrow...

  • I feel your emotions!  My first is headed to preschool this week, and my BABY has decided that he no longer wants to nurse.  BAM-two kids this week suddenly have grown up so fast :(  It's been an emotional couple of days over here!
