Hey destroying MIL DD- thanks for wasting my time

I took the time to write out a thoughtful response, and just found out that I wasted my time. Thanks for that. DD-ing is a jerk move!

Here's what I had written, in the hopes that you take the advice and wise up?

I'm sorry OP, but this is a fianc? problem first and an in-law problem second. (Incidentally- fianc? = male, fianc?e = female)

His horrible parents wouldn't be a problem for you if he didn't allow them to control and interfere. What he should be doing is standing up to them- if they continue to criticise you, your plans together, your choices, etc. they will no longer be in your lives. The wedding is yours, not theirs. You will do what you want, how you decide to do it, and if they don't like it they can just stay home.

You both need to grow backbones. You don't have to put up with being treated like crap just because of a blood relationship. Family should treat you BETTER than strangers on the street would, not worse.

If he's not willing to take a stand to end this insanity, be prepared to live like this forever. Of course, it likely won't be forever- you'll end up resenting him and miserable, and it'll end badly. Everyone has their breaking point.

This ball game was over long before the first note of "The Star Spangled Banner" was sung.
