    my husband has ruled out the bigger house now b/c he convinced the work needed is too much. i really disagree, however our standards for what is "livable" for a few years are different. to me, a pink outdated bathroom is fine for a few years, and a kitchen with decent cabinets, etc. is also fine. but he thinks it needs to be redone before move in and adding that to the fixes it needs would cost too much. oh well... 

  • I agree that the small house with a big yard is the better option. You can't get more land later but you can add to the house. Our house is pretty small but it's still more than enough for the two of us and we have two full rooms that are completely unused right now. Any more than ten people inside our house for a party would be a bit cramped but outside we could easily entertain 100+.
