Food in the Maldives

From what I've been reading, it seems that the different atolls just house a private resort. Does this mean that all food has to be purchased at the resort? Or do any of them have a little grocery store or restaurants?

Re: Food in the Maldives

  • We just got back from a week in the Maldives. Yes, our resort was the whole island, so we had to eat at one of the restaurants there.  The price was a bit more than what we thought.  If you're close enough to Male, you can take a tour there and stop by their supermarket to stock up if you want.  We ate all our meals at their restaurants.
