LeapPad2, Mobigo, or other?
Does anyone have any of these? If so, which do u have and would you recommend it? My son is going to be 3 and i'm thinking about getting him one for his birthday.
TIA!
Re: LeapPad2, Mobigo, or other?
One of my nieces has the LeapPad and a cousin has the Mobigo. I think Mobigo might be a little more geared toward his age, but the LeapPad might last longer and keep his interest with its touch screen and range of games. From what I've seen, he may grow out of the Mobigo more quickly than the LeapPad.
Also definitely depends if you want to spend $100+ on the gift or $60-$80 (for the handheld plus a game or two).
I will admit to playing some I Spy and Cars 2 on the LeapPad over the weekend. Kept me entertained for a few.
My three sons!
I told FIL that one of those would be a good idea for Christmas last year. He ended up buying her 3 (trying to keep things even since he bought my nieces laptops) but neither of the ones you mentioned.
We have the Innotab, VReader, and the Fisher Price iXL.
She has a few games for each. I think she actually likes the Fisher Price iXL the best--but I'm not crazy about having to load the games onto it via my computer. It's kind of a pain in the butt. Also--I'm not sure if they're being discontinued or anything, but a month or so ago Target had them all and all the games clearanced out.
I think the Innotab is a close second. The games are more expensive--but I think they're fairly age appropriate. I haven't gotten an SD card for it yet, so I haven't downloaded any additional apps or anything, but there is a variety that come preloaded. This one keeps her occupied for a good portion of the 3 hour trip to my parents house.
The VReader is OK. It's good for reading the stories, but the games aren't that great and the screen is smaller and the touchscreen isn't very sensitive.
Jake got the leap pad for his bday in January (when he turned 4), he likes it. it's great to have for car trips, waiting at the dr's office, etc...
It comes with a few games/apps/stories, and he also has the Scooby Doo game (it teaches basic math and food stuff, categories, etc...) and the Cars game.
