Friday's Random's

Well we made it. Anyone have plans for the weekend. I think you all know what I'll be doing. We are going to make time for Celebration on the Grand's fireworks tonight though.

Re: Friday's Random's

  • I am in dire need of a hair cut and color. I think I want to find someone new though.
  • Hi there. I hope you have fun and relax a little.

We are going back east (again). My good friend is singing at a jazz cafe in downtown Detroit. She was my MOH and sung at the wedding as well. Her voice is beautiful. Her signature song is "At Last".

There's also a picnic with a bunch of families tomorrow. Hope it's not cold and rainy, because I will plop myself right on the couch and do some nothing.

We will be there all but one weekend this month. Two of my brother's best friends (and thus honorary big brothers) are having babies so their showers are this month. I'm excited for my new nephews and maybe niece. One couple has decided to wait until birth to find out the sex.

I feel you pain. I'm in desperate need of a cut.

  • BnG: Sounds like your trips to the East side are going to be fun this month. Enjoy them.

  • I hope so. But I'm going to get road weary really soon. People need to visit us! Or we at least need to spend some down time up here. We get restless about 1.5 hours into the drive.

How do you want to get your hair cut/colored? I like your hair color. I used to have highlights. Back to my original color now. Salt and pepper. Thanks dad for passing on the premature gray gene!

  • For me I just need my hair to be something easy to do. I'm not great at doing styles with it although I've gotten better over the years. I'm thinking about going back to a bob style. I did highlights once before. I wanted the highlight to match up with the golden tones in my hair. I never saw the added color but other did.

The downside of being away from everyone is it seems like you have to be the one to do all the traveling. :(

  • Happy Friday!

BnG - I feel your pain about the traveling to see family all the time. My parents have only been here once (it's hard for them to travel with my sister) and DH's family has only talked about visiting. FIL gives us a hard time about not coming to visit more (it's an 8 hour drive) but didn't have much to say when we told him the roads go both ways. :) MIL doesn't travel (she has only been to Boston once, where my oldest BIL and wife have lived for 10+ years) so I'm not sure she will ever make it here. Honestly sometimes I do like being far away from family - no surprise visitors!

Ha!  I have the premature gray gene too.  Others say they don't notice it, but I do!  I don't care enough to color it though.

  • Isn't it something TW? My brother teases me because it's more noticeable on me. But he has it too. I can't remember not having grays. People thing it's gorgeous. It's just ok to me. But like you, I don't care to color it (anymore) at the moment.

HM: Yep! Living away has it's pros and cons. My mom is a homebody and would reluctantly stay the night, but would rather sleep in her own bed. The in laws would visit, but they rarely have a day off together. So we burn rubber on 96!

  • BnG - When do you find out the results of your bar exam? Do you think that will help you on the job front once you have that?

  • Not until late october at the earliest. I have no idea how I did. I know they made it harder to pass :-(. I'm honestly not sure if I have it in me to take it over either.

I'm not sure what it will do for my job prospects. The truth is that this area is a little lawyer heavy. There have been some of the biggest law classes in history in the last decade. I think a lot of people had no idea what they wanted to do, so they went to law school. No one is retiring so the newbies can't get in the door. All that to say, I'm open to different avenues. I'm trying to stay close to education administration, or HR

I wish I had gone into something technical, or nursing. There are a TON of nursing positions around here

  • Well last night was interesting to say the least.

I get the premature gray thing too - I have had some since 18 if you can believe that.

I really don't have anything planned this weekend.

  • BNG - I see that you discovered the East/West factor.  When traveling west to east, the trip is easy, quick and doesn't cost a lot of money in gas. However, if you start from the east and have to head west, than it turns into a 5 hour trip and gas is super expensive, blah blah blah...

I've been living on this side of the state for 19 years (gulp, how did I get  that old) and I get frustrated over this. It always amazes how my family doesn't' think twice about me traveling there for a two hour b-day party, but yet no one wants to come visit me.  Or, there have been times that my sisters have come to GR for something and never bothered calling me.

  • Charity: Interesting good or bad?

Got our Bed moved and reset up so we can sleep at the "new" place tonight. It's pretty empty in the house now. Sad weekend for us.

And now onto something completely selfish. I think it's been made pretty clear to people in our lives that we are moving for the last 2 weeks. FIL FB's SS wanting his help this past weekend. SS is like can't I'm moving. FIL is oh ok well let me know if any of the stuff I loaned your Dad is going to be tossed out because that would make me sad. FIL specifically state three items. 1. a Recliner (which he never gave us). 2. a Hutch that we have had for almost 8 years and 3.) a tool that he gave to DH because we was never going back into the "trade" (tool & die). So instead of apologizing for the loss of our house and asking if there is anything he can do he just wants to be a selfish little kid and on top of that deal with a 17 yr old and not the parents in the situation. He wan't SS to help this weekend and SS forgot to contact him to tell him that we are still moving. So SS just calls him and FIL want's to know where the tool is because he really needs it and he wants it tonight. SS tells him that we are going to our friends for the fireworks and FIL tells him to bring it there. Um well we are at the house and are not going back to my parents until after the fireworks so um yeah nope not happening. What a effing @$$$. DH deleted him from his FB profile because he is so past dealing with him.

    Vent over, thanks
