I just started, and I can't believe how much I like them! I don't know why exactly, I think maybe the novelty of a more reserved public expression of attraction is very intriguing.
It sort of heightens the need for actors to be more skilled in order to get the same impact (or better) that one would get in a Western show in regards to a love story.
All of this while at the same time the 'cuteness' and 'sentimental' factors are ramped WAAAY up, so I find these shows to be addictive guilty pleasures.
The only problem I have is that when I get started on a drama I can't seem to stop. I'll start watching after my son goes to sleep and stay up until 5 am (well, I've only done that a couple of times.) I really can't do that anymore. I'm taking online classes and I'm starting to get behind.
I had tried to only watch a few episodes when I was done with my work for the week but I just don't have the will-power to stop at a couple of episodes; so I'm cutting myself off until Thanksgiving break.
Well anyway, if you haven't watched any Asian dramas and don't think you would even be interested, I have to urge you to atleast try one. I didn't think I would like them at all. They just didn't look interesting compared to my Revenge/Community/etc. shows I like.
If you DO like Asian dramas, please post! I have absolutely no one to discuss them with. It's like I'm on a deserted island or something.
