End of November to December the hubby and I are going to Europe. We haven't booked anything yet. We've got 3 weeks and we can't decide if we should take it easy in one place like Paris or try and see as much as we can in that time. Also, can't decide how to travel...book hotels ahead of time or as we go.
Those of you who have been or have considered it... what would you do with 10k, 3 weeks and a desire to see Europe. Where would you go? How would you travel?
Re: 3 weeks in Europe..
We jsut did two weeks in Italy and I blogged about it extensively- check it out here. There are two weeks worth or entries including reviews for Venice, Rome, Florence, Chianti, and the Cinque Terre.

I would do a river cruise, and at that time of year I'd look into one that has a focus on Christmas markets.
Otherwise, with three weeks I would choose two areas I really wanted to explore and divide my time accordingly. What places you choose is really a matter of personal choice and interests.
How I travel depends on where I'm going. I love overnight trains and ferries, but sometimes a flight just makes more sense.
France and Italy are definitely at the top of my list. I've had friends try to talk me out of Italy because of the weather and time of year we'd be going...
I love the idea of trains because you can see the country side as you travel. But I also don't want to spend half my vacation on a train as I know it can take hours n hours n hours to reach your destination.
I also thought if I don't book hotels ahead of time I would likely be ripped off instead of finding a deal as they would know I am definitely in need of a room last minute (or so my travel agent friend said).
My husband and I did a whirlwind 11 days in three cities for our honeymoon... Paris Sunday- Wednesday, train to Bruge stayed there Wednesday Afternoon through Saturday morning, Train to London Sat-Tuesday.
Hitting three cities was alot but it def kept it really exciting and forced us to focus on the big stuff..we worked in 1 day agenda-free per city.
if you can go to brugge do it! it was our favorite spot! PM for some other suggestions if you want...we loved it there! have so much fun!
