You all know I have two rabbits. My cute little guy Harry and my new one, the Flemish Giant, Melody. I love them to pieces!
Luke, my youngest son is allergic to rabbits, but the buns are in our sunroom and do not come into the house. I felt that this was safe. Luke continues having some sinus issues but I was sure, this wasn't related, considering he is not around the rabbits.
Well, earlier I took Harry outside and I had a lot of fur on me. Luke leaned on me and I told him not to so he wouldn't get bunny hair on him. Not even 5 minutes later he started to feel bad. Within 30 minutes he was horribly stuffy, his eyes were watering like crazy and swelling up and he felt really bad. I had no idea that he could have a reaction this bad to the rabbit hair. But now seeing this, I worry that there is enough left on me, no matter how careful I am, to affect his health.
I kills me to even think about giving the rabbits away but I can not let my child suffer. He has already gone through one sinus surgery and the doctor wants him to do another CT scan. And now I think this all could be cured if all allergens were removed.
I want to scream, I am so upset.
Re: I am in tears
how frustrating...
one idea, what about a smock or rain coat or something that you can put on as you go in with the rabbits, and take off and leave in the room?
