Sorry I haven't been online much ladies. Have you already talked about your plans for the 1-year anniversary?
H and I are taking a two night trip away. I hope it will be relaxing.
Re: Anniversary
We threw around a couple different ideas last weekend. A 2 night trip to Chicago - or a 2 night trip to a cabin in southern Indiana. But then we just decided to stay close to home & stay 1 night at a new hotel here, that I've always wanted to stay at! I love the look of it!
Not sure if that picture will work or not?
So we are going to do that & go out to dinner at a nice restaurant downtown. We normally don't splurge like that.

QJ, that sounds great.
We're going to San Fran and Napa for 5 days in early October, but it will be with other people so it's not super romantic. I've been toying with the idea of doing an overnight at a B&B in the NY Finger Lakes area or Niagara-on-the-Lake the weekend before or after our anniversary. We'll see.

TTGP Blog - A Good Read!
We are trying to plan a little trip for the first weekend of October. It's kind of last minute and a few of the places are already booked because of fall festivals in the areas.
We don't want to go much farther than 4-5 hours away. Still looking!
we were originally going to go Vegas for the Age of Chivalry Ren Fair. But that isn't happening anymore. Due to a scheduling conflict, they had to change the date of the fair to the week earlier, but Vhati couldn't change his vacation to that week (someone already had it off) and it would have cost us the same amount to rebook the flights as it did to initially book them; so we're out $500.
People have asked why we weren't just going to go to Vegas anyways. We had considered that before we scrapped the idea because it would be 5 days in a city that other than the Ren Fair, we had no real wish to visit; we've both been (separately; me for a Geology field trip in college, and him for the Sony Online Fan Expo when we worked for them), and though we had been underage at the time, the awe of it isn't there any more.
We are going to SteamCon at the end of October, but neither of us count that as an anniversary trip; it is more the "we couldn't go to the ren fair, so let's go have a blast at another type of event we'd enjoy.
We stayed there on our wedding night! We loved it. The floor to ceiling windows and view of downtown is amazing. And if you can eat breakfast at Osteria Pronto, I recommend it. The buffet is wonderful.
We originally had planned to go back for two nights for our anniversary this year because we didn't get to full enjoy the experience last time (didn't get to the hotel until midnight, checked out by 8 am), but changed our mind. We still plan to go back there for an anniversary in the future. Have fun!
And in response to the OP, we're going to spend a long weekend in Gatlinburg, TN. We're staying in the Smokey Mountains, and have a private patio facing the mountains. I'm really excited about it. Our honeymoon was so busy and had so little down time that I vowed we'd do something more laid back for our first anniversary. I can't wait to have a trip that is slow paced and relaxing (and romantic).

Jealous of your trip -- I know you got married there and your photos were amazing!
We are going to NYC for the honeymoon we originally wanted to take but decided it would be too difficult to plan. Staying for six nights, so we are very excited!
We are going on a short cruise and staying a couple of nights in Miami. 1 before cruise & 1 after, so not sure how much we'll do in Miami. I think we are both more excited that's it's been almost a year! Plus Texas is starting to get hints of fall!
How crazy that it has been a year already?
That sucks. We'll be there (working it). Love the faire but hate that we're not at Sunset Park anymore.
We're still trying to figure out what to do for our anniversary. One of my really good friends is getting married on the 13th in Chicago and I really want to be there for his wedding but I don't really want to be in Chicago for my anniversary. Plus we were just there Labor Day weekend for my my best friend's wedding. We're looking to see what flights would cost us to fly out to Chicago on the day before and then fly to Vegas the day after and spend a couple days there before flying home.

We're going to try another year, probably not till 2016 though; figured it'd be a good 5 year anniversary trip.
So exciting! I would love to do this! I love DW, and DH has never been - but refuses to go.
Says he doesn't want kids all around him throwing their fries at him. I have no idea how he pictures it, but I have a feeling he's totally off.

I've been stalking groupon, living social and ruelala for a good deal on a weekend getaway in VT or NH. Trouble is, DH and I are kinda in limbo... hubby may have a potential job offer in San Francisco (we live in CT), so I don't really want to plan anything...
I started working on a gift for hubby of a thing I saw on Pinterest. I made an envelope book and I'm trying to stuff each of the 12 envelopes with pre-paid dates. That's the tough part too about not knowing our future situation...
Any ideas for dates at home or that can be done anywhere?
We (well mostly me) are planning are planning a weekend hiking/camping trip up North at Lake Superior. We are super poor college student, so there isn't a lot we can afford. I have been wanting to go camping with H anyway, so it works out pretty good. At least we will be by ourselves, without any distractions for a couple days.
ksahlberg, have you considered an outdoor excursion? If that isn't your thing, I totally understand. just an idea.
I hope someday we can take a trip like the ones some of you guys are taking. They sound fantastic. I hope everyone has a great time. I can't believe it has almost been a year, can you?

We're taking a week off work and driving down to Memphis & Nashville. No specific plans but lots of bbq!
