Job searching sucks!!!
Hello everyone,
I am new and this is my story. I had a job and a project got cancelled and i got put on leave of absence until they get new projects. It has been 5 months and nothing. I am applying for jobs, but so far i am not getting anything. This is making me really upset. I am thankful that my husband has a business so i help him out, which gets me out of the house and keeps me going. I have a degree in Biomedical Engineering and where i live it is very hard to find a job in right now. I am thinking of going back to school for Accounting, but that is completely different area and i need to take GRE (which i really don't want to do lol). My other option is to get my real estate license and try doing that. Is anyone doing that?
I am just lost

I see so many people jump into RE for this reason. Most bail out after they realize how much time is involved, how much work they need to do to drum up business, ect vs. the actual paycheck. Unless you are very motivated and gungho, don't waste the time and money. Sorry!
My suggestion is to hang in there and keep hunting.
Just stay positive, I was laid off from a great engineering job three years ago, after a year of search I was getting to the point that I thought I would never find a job, I had to expand my horizon and look for job outside of Austin where we used to live, I found a great job in Dallas area, the offer was so great that it did make sense for us to move, I am extremely happy at this job, I am thankful that I lost the project management job, because it opened this door to me!
Stay positive, attend your industry networking grouping and stay relevant, if you are in any engineering committee/associations, go to their lunches, let them know that you are looking for a job, you just never know when/where does the next oppurtunity comes.

I'm no RE agent, but I'm pretty sure real estate is a very time-consuming and expensive business that requires a great deal of commitment. Though I'm not in real estate, I own my own business, and it's a difficult and devoted undertaking.
If you want different qualifications, it would be better to just go back to school, maybe get a license at a local community college in something you really like, or expand on your current degree in a more employable direction.
