Re: CP: Where do you store digital photos?

  • On our hard drive, external hard drive, and on shutterfly

  • Oh good question. I have no idea where to store them except for websites but what if something happens to the website? I need a back up.
  • On our harddrive and Snapfish. Lots of photos are on FB too so I could easily copy them if something crashed.
  • We have pictures saved to the computer, on cd's and on shutterfly.

  • All over...I think I have some on a two or three online housing sites, some on discs, some on hard drive, some in email.  I have the best intentions of consolidating but don't have the time nor an action plan and get overwhelmed thinking about it.

  • I chose "on my hard drive" because that's where most of my photos are. I have some duplicates on FB and Shutterfly, some older ones on CDs or another computer.

The problem is when I get a new computer, I then need to move hundreds of photos (if not more) to the new computer or to somewhere else. Currently, my old laptop is lying around still because I still haven't moved the photos yet. The photos from 2 computers ago are on CDs. I'd really like to get it all together some how! I'm a little wary of storing them all online ONLY...

  • Shutterfly, hard drive, face book and backup external. I keep meaning to get something like drop box or put them all on shutterly, picasa, etc. It's true that something can happen to a website, but they usually are backed up on several servers. However, if your hard drive crashes you may be out of luck.

  • We store them on two computer hard drives and an external so that there are 3 copies.  We keep our external in a fire proof box and I also have some on photo sites.

  • All our pictures are on flickr and snapfish. My husband also set up a system where our phones and the computers automatically upload to an external hard drive, that can be accessed remotely.

  • an external hard drive, some other type of external back up, we upload to shutterfly, and we burn them to CD.
