As I type this, the City of Chesapeake is turning the wasteland formerly known as my front yard into a big mud pit. Hoping they're done soon. On the good note, maybe after they're done, I can actually get grass to grow in the front yard....

you might want to look into sinkhole insurance.... You don't want this to happen... although I hope that it is the only one.

The water line for our street runs through my front yard. The junction where the line for my neighbour's house splits off broke. So they had to dig it out and replace it.
Well, I over stated a bit. Wasn't so much a sink hole. The water was bubbling up through my yard and the cracks in the street. Also bulged up the street in some parts and partially collapses others.
