I figured I would check in with all my lovely ladies and see what you are all upto now, what are you working on, or looking forward to?
I am starting to get that feeling that the wedding is sufficiently behind us now, and I need a new project, just not sure what that project needs to be. So I was wondering what you ladies were upto.
In that vein, I have been researching DSLR cameras, and was wondering if people have one, have a favorite, or would like to offer suggestions. I am currently between the Canon T3i and the Nikon d5100 so any advice would be appreciated.
Re: So now what?
I agree, I also have been feeling like I need to move on now that our honeymoon is over and I am almost done with thank you notes.
I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I've been compiling articles I've written as a friend of mine is writing a book and she may want some of my help.
I'm also almost always able to work out or work on choreography. That is probably the one thing I really missed the last month or so since the wedding ate it up. hah
Hi ladies, I am currently working on planning one of my best friend's bahelorette party. I just finished designing her invitation. After this wedding, I really don't want to have to participate in another wedding for atleast a year. This is my 3rd wedding since July. I was MOH in the first, then came my own, and finally round 2 as MOH. (Don't get me wrong, I really love my girls and feel so lucky to be a part of their big day- but I'm just a tad bit drained).
I'm also starting "fall cleaning" at home. That's this weeks task.
I know nothing about cameras but I wish I did.
I've been working on posting my for sale items today. Just going to put up the post in a few minutes and want to clean out the "wedding gifts" take things out of hte big boxes and kind of organize it (we decided not to use anything or unpack it until we move)....
and house hunting!
My Planning Bio - Update 8/5/12
My new project is actually getting more into photography! I am going to take a couple classes, probably in the winter and I've been reading a ton of books and websites about photography. I am also offering to take pictures for everyone and anyone, to build a portfolio so that someday someone might want to pay me to take pictures.
My love of photography lies mainly in nature photography, but I know that people photography is really the "bread and butter".
I bought a Canon T3i in June and I love it. From what I read and talked to people about, Canon vs. Nikon is really a personal preference, both are good. I went with the Canon because I know more people with Canons so I can have more people to ask for help from. I have the stock lens it came with and I bought an extra zoom lens.
My Bio
I -JUST- bought a DSLR so that I could have it for the honeymoon. I was comparing both models that you are, and I went with the Nikon D5100. I asked around a lot and I even had them both in hand at the store to really compare them. The common consensus was that it's a matter of personal preference for the interface. Everything else is pretty much the same. The two cameras have different menu setups and different button placements. Since the two cameras are so similar, I based the choice on comfort, and I found the Nikon to feel better for my finger movements.
I would highly suggest that you go into a store and just scroll through the menus and get a feel for the buttons. The Nikon menus made more sense to me, but maybe you'll find the Canon makes more sense for you. If you go to a Ritz Camera, they should have both available for you to try.
Starting the new school year and getting to know all of my students has been a project for me. I'm also going to apply to grad school to start earning my degree as a guidance counselor this fall.
I've been feeling that way too - what to do now? I've been having baby fever, so I'm trying to keep that underway since we are not trying for a year.
CallMe - I have a Nikon 3100? H bought it for the honeymoon so we haven't had it too long, but I have no complaints!
Right now, H & I are both job hunting as we want to get settled in a career. So I'm doing a lot of planning for the future right now, this way we are set with better jobs, a house, etc. Frustrating & tedious work, I'll tell ya!
We are house hunting and I do small projects for people like bow making, wedding crafts for other people, and photography so those help keep me busy. We also have two LO to take care of at 6 and 4 so they take up a lot of my free time when DH is away at work.
We will be trying for baby number 3 (first for hubs) in Oct or Nov. I will keep you ladies updated.
I have a DSLR but it is a Sony and not many people go that route becuase Canon and Nikon are much better and more user friendly. I got my camera for a great deal and could not turn it down but when I get a chance or DH wants to get me a new camera I will upgrade my camera without a doubt.
Fall cleaning is a big project for us, as well as finishing painting the boat we inherited from DH's Great Grandfather
Also we will be remodeling our kitchen as well as building shelving in our master bedroom and what will be the nursery.
Another project for me is helping with my cousin's wedding in October! Also, finishing planning our November honeymoon
Come October, a big project will be to help my parents gather and cut enough firewood to help them make it through the MN winter!!
