So we actually made it there on Friday. My DD just turned 10 months and she had a blast. Between the fountain show and getting to stare at the lights as we whizzed her around, she was amazed and smiled through the whole thing.
The adults also had a great time, BUT ... I really thought that there were going to be more light exhibits. I was a tad disappointed in that respect. That being said, we didn't see the one exhibit because you had to wait in line to walk through it and the line was INSANE, so we skipped it. We had 7 pm tickets and that was probably perfect. It was still light out when we got there, so we checked out some of the flowers. Then as it got dark, we wandered throught the lights. Then we caught some of the fountain show before hitting up the conservatory while everyone else was still watching the end of the fountainshow.
There are still like two weeks left of that exhibit and I would definitely recommend it if you can go. Extra FYI ... it appeared you could buy wine there, I would have loved to partake but I was exhausted and driving, so I didn't scope out the drink areas to check out prices or anything.
Re: Longwood Gardens Update - Round 2
Agreed, we went Friday night too and had a blast. I was super disappointed that they two I really wanted to see a) had a line (as pp mentioned) or b) was turned off. Tappinpo did you notice that the lilypads weren't on?
We went ahead and bought a membership since we go about 4 times a year and it will pay for itself in about 3 trips.
Yeah - where were the lily pads? I couldn't figure out where they were, but we definitely didn't see them lit up. I was definitely kind of curious as to what the exhibit with the huge line was up near the mansion, but there was no way I was waiting in that line - it would have burnt half our trip. (It was also a little annoying to get everything out of the stroller to go see the towers, but that was pretty cool.)
I am definitely planning on getting a membership for next year. I am going to wait to purchase it since I can't go in the winter (lucky me is super allergic to pointsettas), but its such a quick trip from our house and my daughter loved it! I think when she can run around next spring she will go crazy in the children's garden. She was also super impressed by the fountains. I forgot how many were there.
