General Doctor-check up question

I have doctors that I got to such as gyno and dermatologist and I go every year to get checked out.  However I have not been to a general doctor probably since I was a teenager (currently 26)  and this could be a stupid question but I wanted to ask.

Is it necessary to also go to a general doctor every year? Would they check out anything different that wouldn't be caught say when I went for my annual at the gyno? I don't have any current health problems or family history that is concerning.

Thanks for your input!

Re: General Doctor-check up question

  • If you have insurance it normally covers one free physical a year for you. Just like your yearly check up at the oob-gyn would be free. It doesn't hurt to go and make sure your blood work comes back ok. Plus it's good to be familiar with your doctor and comfortable with them if you do get sick.

  • You should be getting yearly bloodwrk to test your cholesterol levels, thyroid, total blood counts, and so on.  There is no reason NOT to go.
