We are doggy parents

We found a stray on Sunday and named her Gretel because she eventually followed a trail of food into our apartment. We think she is a mix of chihauhau/dachsund/terrier. The vet estimates she is about 5 years old and was probably dumped. She hops on one back leg, but the vet doesn't think it hurts her and may be something she picked up from a previous injury.

She is so good - housebroken, sweet, good in an apartment. We were going to give her to another family who have another dog (she loves playing with other pups) and who would be home more, but she seems to have adjusted to life with us. Everytime we would talk about giving her to a new home, we would bawl (like boogers streaming down our face sobs). She seems happy in our apartment, so hopefully we are not doing her wrong. I feel like a cyclone has hit us, but we are totally smitten and feel like she is part of our little family. We never thought we'd have dogs or kids, but she's an angel.
