Hey,
I was just wondering what medicine your little girl is on for the reflux. Our little guy is almost 4 weeks old and has been on Axid for weeks and I really don't think it's working. We're wondering if he needs to be on Prevacid or Zantac instead.
Glad she seems to be doing better!!

Re: Bobkat22
First off, congratulations!! Our LOs are very close in age!
She is taking Prevacid. I think it's 15 mg twice a day. Hopefully your little guy can get some relief soon too. It's terrible for baby and mom.
Congrats to you too!
How long did it take before you started seeing results? What kind of formula did you end up putting her on? We've tried all of the Similac formulas and those aren't cutting it, we have an appointment with his doctor today to figure out our next step. I'm hoping we can get this figured out and he starts feeling better soon.
My doctor said it would take 4-6 weeks to see results, but I feel like I've seen an improvement since the second dose. I think we still have a ways to go. She still spits up a ton and arches her back and has painful screams, but it's not all day. She just has small episodes.
She's been on Gerber Good Start Gentle, but today is her first day on the Good Start Soothe. My doctor gives us three free cans a visit of that stuff so I hope it agrees with her!
Just a tip if you get put on Prevacid. It's a solutab and I think most people dissolve it in water and then syringe it into their mouth. My doctor said you lose a lot of the medicine that way because the granules stick to the side of the syringe. So we just put it inside her cheek and squirt 1 cc of water on the pill to help it start dissolving quicker and then pop her paci in for atleast 15 minutes. She gets all of the medicine that way.
Good luck with your appointment today! Let me know how it goes. By the way, how much is your baby eating per feeding? Hadley has been doing 3 oz every 3 hours, but the last few days it's been 3 oz every 2 hours and sometimes she's eating 4 oz!
Thanks for the info! I've read really good things about the Gerber brand formula, I think we might be trying that very soon. Who is your doctor?
Hudson eats about 2-4 ounces every 3 hours, I start out with 3 ounces and most of the time he ends up eating another ounce. He's also been known to eat 5 ounces at times! He's also gained over a pound since he was born, the little guy does love to eat!
You do have a good eater!
We go to Dr. Reddy in MWC. I love her! I have to use a doctor associated with the hospital in MWC because of my insurance/work, but when I switch insurance next month I will still make the drive over there because I like her so much. She's a new mom too so I think she really listens and actually wants to have a conversation with you about things.
