He who ate everything, will eat nothing....

Sims ate me out of house and home.  Whatever we put in front of him, he devoured.  Now, he wants nothing.  Not picky - wants nothing.  I ask if he wants, yogurt, noodles, pizza, beans, all of his favorites - "No, I don't want that."  If I have him eat what we eat or nothing, he'll eat nothing and think nothing of it.  He doesn't act hungry.  He doesn't ask to eat - is this a phase where they're too busy to eat?  I'm afraid that a yogurt for dinner isn't enough, but he't asking for more...

  • Unless he's acting sick and not drinking anything either, I wouldn't worry about it.  If he's hungry he'll find something that he wants to eat.

DD goes through spurts where she doesn't eat more than a few bites of anything. Or she'll ask for 10 different things and not take more than a couple bites before she decides that's not what she was hungry for.

On the flip side she'll also go through obvious growth spurts where her tummy is a bottomless pit.

  • What Amy said.

You offer food at every meal. Put it on his plate in front of him. He chooses what to eat. You respect his choice not to eat and don't offer him more food until the next regular meal or snacktime.

  • Ditto both of the Amys :)  Jake went through a similar phase, I literally felt like he was eating a grand total of 10 bites of food per day.  But, it passed (although he still has his days where he eats like a bird, then will turn around 2 days later and eat so much I think he might explode).

  • Ditto everyone else.  Noah was what I called a "non-eater".  He wasn't picky, he just didn't eat.  I offered food at every meal, and he ate what he ate.  Once I stopped getting stressed about it, things were easier.
