Thank you after interview...

Which is more professional? Sending a thank you note by email to each individual who interviewed me or sending a hand written note to each?  Or does it not matter?

Re: Thank you after interview...

  • Hand written note is the professional "norm", however I've known several people that have gone the email route and it was recieved very well.
Sorry that most of my jokes are borderline inappropriate. And by sorry, I mean you're welcome. Cait_S
  • I have always just sent an email immediately after the interview but I wasn't sure if one was viewed more appropriate than the other

  • I think you could do it either way and be safe.

  • I, personally, would send the email rather than a hand written note.
  • I do the hiring for my department at a hospital and honestly am not swayed by thank you notes. I've received very little thank you notes, most were handwritten but that didn't make a difference in my hiring decision.
  • You can imediatly send a hand written thank you. Then a couple days later send out the email. It's both a second thank you and a sly way to remind them or check and see if they received the one in the mail. At least this is how I was thought how to do it.
